In a concerted effort to bolster public safety, Egyptian security forces conducted extensive operations across the country within a 24-hour period, leading to significant arrests, drug seizures, and the enforcement of numerous judicial rulings.
The Ministry of Interior reported that their initiatives yielded impressive results, with the authorities seizing 348 drug-related cases and recovering 315 pieces of firearms. These operations are directed at confronting thuggery and ensuring that those bearing illegal weapons are brought to justice.
During these operations, confiscated drugs included over 410 kilograms of hashish and 35 kilograms of banjo, with also 39 kilograms of heroin taken off the streets. Furthermore, authorities seized approximately 14 kilograms of heroin, more than 7 kilograms of crystal meth, and various other narcotics such as shabu, ice cream, and an assortment of pills.
In terms of firearms recovery, the security forces reported the confiscation of 26 high-caliber rifles, 70 shotguns, and 5 pistols—along with 214 locally made firearms. Over 600 rounds of different caliber ammunition and additional weapons made this operation one of the most extensive within recent times.
Moreover, the security apparatus implemented an astounding total of 85,018 diverse judicial rulings. This includes 365 felony sentences and over 27,577 misdemeanor imprisonment sentences, reflecting the determination of the law enforcement agencies to ensure that judicial penalties are enforced and offenders are dealt with decisively. Included in this tally were also 4,524 suspended sentences, 41,333 financial penalties, and 11,219 miscellaneous rulings.
In a notable expose of organized crime, the security forces dismantled 7 distinct criminal gangs, arresting 18 individuals implicated in 39 different incidents of criminal activity. Moreover, efforts to apprehend fugitives proved successful, leading to the arrest of 21 wanted individuals, with an additional 20 suspects detained for involvement in acts of thuggery.
Traffic enforcement was also a priority, with 25,897 traffic violations documented and 236 motorcycles seized for violations. In a proactive initiative, authorities inspected 64 drivers on highways for possible drug use, finding 13 of them testing positive.
