The Egyptian Ministry of Housing is gearing up to launch an ambitious housing project that will offer over 261,000 apartments across five phases, starting April 15, 2025. According to reports, the first phase will kick off with the availability of 35,000 apartments, followed by subsequent releases of 60,000 units on July 15, 2025, 59,000 units on October 15, 2025, 58,000 units on January 15, 2026, and finally, 48,000 units on April 15, 2026. The prices of these apartments will range from 10,000 EGP to 35,000 EGP per square meter, making them accessible to a broad spectrum of potential buyers.
In a related development, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade is contemplating a significant shift in the subsidy system for food supplies. The proposed plan would convert in-kind support provided through food commodities into cash support for all beneficiaries of the ration cards. The Ministry has also announced that certain categories of individuals will be removed from the subsidy system altogether. Moreover, individuals owning more than ten acres of agricultural land, those who pay annual taxes reaching 100,000 EGP or more, and those who have not utilized their subsidized goods for six consecutive months will find themselves removed from the subsidy list. The Ministry is also targeting owners of vehicles newer than the 2017 model year and those who have illegally occupied agricultural lands.
