Egypt Braces For Moderate Weather With Rain And Winds

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority predicts pleasant temperatures and possible rain across the country.

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Egypt is set to experience a day of moderate weather, with pleasant conditions expected during the night and active winds sweeping across Cairo and the Northern Coast. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has indicated that some regions may see light to moderate rainfall, particularly in the northern coastal areas and parts of the Nile Delta.

The forecast reveals that while daytime temperatures will be comfortably warm across northern Egypt and northern Upper Egypt, the nights will bring a noticeable chill. As the day progresses, the weather will shift to milder conditions, making it a pleasant time to be outdoors.

In the North Coast region, the weather will remain moderate during the day, but the nights will feel cooler. Rainfall is anticipated, with light to moderate showers possible, which may occasionally be accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds will also be active, contributing to the overall dynamic weather pattern.

Meanwhile, in South Sinai and the Red Sea mountains, the weather will be moderately warm throughout the day, with nighttime temperatures remaining comfortable. Significant wind activity is expected, which could stir up dust and sand in some areas.

In Upper Egypt, both Northern and Southern regions will experience warm daytime temperatures, but the nights will be pleasantly cool. Winds will be brisk, stirring up dust and sand, particularly in the southern parts of the country.

The specific temperature forecasts for various cities on Sunday are as follows: Cairo will see highs of 23 degrees Celsius and lows of 15 degrees; Alexandria will reach highs of 21 degrees and lows of 13 degrees; Damanhur is expected to have a high of 22 degrees and a low of 13 degrees.

In Siwa, temperatures will peak at 24 degrees with lows of 10 degrees. Aswan will experience the warmest weather, with highs of 29 degrees and lows of 15 degrees. In Qena, temperatures will be slightly lower, with highs of 28 degrees and lows of 13 degrees. Luxor is expected to mirror Qena's temperatures, while Sohag will see highs of 27 degrees and lows of 9 degrees.

On the Mediterranean coast, Marsa Matrouh will have a high of 20 degrees and a low of 12 degrees. The New Administrative Capital will experience highs of 24 degrees and lows of 14 degrees, while New Alamein will see highs of 20 degrees and lows of 12 degrees.

As for the sea conditions, the Mediterranean Sea is forecasted to be moderately turbulent, with wave heights ranging from 2 to 3 meters and winds blowing from the southeast. In contrast, the Red Sea will have more stable conditions, with wave heights between 1 and 1.75 meters and winds from the northwest.

Adding to the weather complexities, strong northwesterly winds, known as the "Bawarih," are expected to stir up dust and sand, reaching speeds of over 55 km/h in some areas. These winds can lead to the formation of sandstorms under severe conditions. The development of these winds is attributed to rising surface pressure over the eastern Mediterranean and a significant drop in pressure over the Arabian Peninsula and the Empty Quarter.

Overall, the weather on Sunday will provide a mix of pleasant conditions and challenges, particularly with the potential for rain and wind activities across various regions. The Egyptian Meteorological Authority advises residents to stay updated with daily forecasts to plan their activities accordingly and heed any warnings regarding changing weather conditions.

As the day unfolds, the combination of moderate temperatures, active winds, and the possibility of rain will create a unique weather experience across Egypt. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to enjoy the mild daytime temperatures while preparing for cooler evenings.
