Edoardo Vianello Responds To Wilma Goich's Controversial Claims

Accusations about parenting, grief, and unresolved issues surface during public confrontation.

Edoardo Vianello has publicly responded to the accusations made by his ex-wife Wilma Goich during the television program “La Volta Buona,” hosted by Caterina Balivo. Goich had recently spoken about her personal experience, expressing discontent over Vianello's absence during a harrowing time: the death of their daughter, Susanna. She lamented her ex-husband's unavailability when their family needed support the most.

“I didn’t know how to face it,” Vianello stated, addressing Goich's claims and attempting to explain his difficulties coping with such immense grief. During the aired segment, he confronted Goich's allegations directly, asserting, “The story she told is full of lies; it’s not exactly as she says.” Vianello clarified his role as being supportive from a practical standpoint when their daughter fell ill, emphasizing, “If I hadn’t taken interest, it wouldn’t even have been known she was sick.” He recounted the ordeal: Susanna suffered from unexplained pains, and it was only through Vianello’s initiative to get her examined by the best specialist available at the time, was her condition diagnosed.

When Susanna's situation became irreversible, Vianello felt compelled to step aside. “I didn’t have the strength anymore. We were in the middle of the pandemic, and only two people were allowed to visit her. I thought it was right for her mother (Wilma Goich, editor’s note) and her son to be there. I wouldn’t have been able to handle it,” he revealed, adding, “I preferred to deal with practical matters. I don’t have to prove my grief to anyone; it bothers me when it’s sensationalized. It’s something I carry within, I know how much I’ve suffered and how much I miss her. I wanted to preserve a living memory of Susanna.”

Vianello wanted to clarify the issue surrounding the letter he reportedly received from his ex-wife. “She said she wrote it five years ago, but it was really written just one year ago. I didn’t respond because every time she goes on TV, she talks badly about me. It’s a relationship I no longer care to maintain.” He concluded with pointed questions: “After 50 years of separation, why continue discussing it? Clearly, she has no other topics. What does she gain from throwing mud at me?”

These statements come after Goich’s earlier accusations during the same program, where she described Vianello’s absence during their daughter’s last days, stating, “He wasn’t there when our daughter was ill, and she passed away. He’s never responded to the letter I sent him.” She shared the pain of the traumatic loss, which occurred amid the turmoil of 2020, reflecting the emotional weight they both carry over Susanna's premature death.

Vianello's responses shed light on the intricacies of familial relationships under distressing circumstances, particularly surrounding the grief experienced by parents when faced with their child’s health struggles. Throughout their public dispute, he attempted to balance his defense against Goich’s accusations with his attempt to maintain respect for their daughter’s memory, clearly demonstrating the emotional stakes involved.

This public exchange has sparked widespread discussion among fans and observers of the couple’s long history, as they navigate personal conflicts through media appearances. The impact of their daughter’s loss remains at the forefront of their narrative, showcasing both their individual and shared pains.
