Economist Evren Devrim Zelyut Passes Away At 43

The prominent economist succumbed to lung cancer after a brave battle, leaving behind a legacy of insightful economic analysis.

Evren Devrim Zelyut, a prominent economist and journalist, has passed away at the age of 43 after a battle with lung cancer. His death, which occurred on March 27, 2025, has left many in shock, especially those in the financial community who closely followed his insights and analyses.

Zelyut had been diagnosed with lung cancer approximately three months prior to his passing. In his last message shared on social media, he expressed hope and gratitude, stating, "Dear friends! I haven't been able to write to you for a long time, but is it possible to forget you? I am receiving treatment and experiencing positive developments. I will get back on my feet with your good feelings. We will share beautiful things again. You are all in my heart. Goodbye for now..." This heartfelt farewell resonated with his followers, many of whom had been supporting him through his illness.

Born on December 22, 1982, in Istanbul, Zelyut was the son of Rıza Zelyut, a well-known journalist and author. He completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul and graduated from Marmara University in 2004, where he studied at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, majoring in Economics.

Following his graduation, Zelyut began his career as an investment specialist at Kent Yatırım Menkul Değerler A.Ş. He later moved to Prim Menkul Değerler A.Ş. in 2008, continuing his work in investment analysis. In 2010, he took on the role of management consultant at Arıkanlı Holding. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own company, Avrasya Yatırım, in 2013, which allowed him to further pursue his passion for economic analysis.

From 2014 onwards, Zelyut wrote columns for Yeniçağ Gazetesi, where he shared his insights on the Turkish and global economy. His writings were well-received, and he became a respected voice in economic journalism. In 2017, he launched a YouTube channel for Avrasya Yatırım, where he provided analyses and predictions about economic trends, quickly becoming one of Turkey's most popular economic commentators.

Throughout his career, Zelyut was known for his striking comments and evaluations, often challenging conventional wisdom and providing fresh perspectives on economic issues. His contributions to the field of economics and journalism were significant, and he was regarded as a thought leader by his peers.

In the months leading up to his passing, Zelyut had been open about his health struggles, sharing updates with his followers on social media. He had announced in September 2024 that he would undergo surgery due to his illness, with the hope of returning to his work shortly thereafter.
