EasyJet Holidays Launches First Impact Report For Sustainable Travel

The report outlines commitments to eco-friendly practices and community engagement for future travel.

On March 14, 2025, EasyJet holidays announced its commitment to making sustainable travel mainstream with the launch of its first-ever Impact Report. This significant document highlights the company’s ambition to offer exceptional holidays at competitive prices, all the mientras embracing sustainability as the foundation of its operations.

The Impact Report details EasyJet holidays’ innovative ‘Holiday Better’ strategy, aiming to reshape the travel industry by ensuring its operations positively influence the environment, local communities, and governance practices. The report not only showcases the company’s achievements but also outlines its goals for future improvements.

Central to the strategy are three key pillars: environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. Through these pillars, EasyJet holidays is making sustainability accessible, collaborating with hotel partners to secure globally recognized sustainability certifications. This approach ensures customers can make eco-conscious holiday choices without incurring additional costs.

A milestone within this framework was the introduction of EasyJet holidays’ animal welfare policy, rolled out in March 2024. The company has also implemented electric vehicle transfers, particularly evident in Greece, where it aims to promote greener travel options. Further emphasizing its commitment, EasyJet holidays partnered with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) to deliver sustainability training for hotel partners located across Spain, Greece, and Turkey. Currently, more than 300 hotels have enrolled to improve eco-friendly practices and boost responsible tourism.

One standout initiative highlighted in the report is the introduction of Winnow AI technology, utilized at the Bahia Principe Sunlight Costa Adeje hotel. This innovative solution has been successfully used to reduce buffet food waste, resulting in significant savings. The technology reflects EasyJet holidays’ dedication to not only enhancing its service offerings but also making substantial contributions to the communities it serves.

Beyond environmental efforts, EasyJet holidays is committed to fostering positive relationships with local economies. By collaborating with Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and integrating AI-driven food waste reduction strategies, the company is demonstrating how tourism can contribute to local wellbeing and sustainability.

Matt Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer of EasyJet holidays, voiced his enthusiasm about the report, stating, “Our first Impact Report marks a significant milestone for us on our Journey to support our customers to Holiday Better. While we’re proud of our achievements so far, it’s clear we need to deliver progress to meet both short and long-term targets.” He emphasized the importance of pace over perfection, indicating the necessity for quick actions and partnerships to implement sustainable solutions efficiently.

The report outlines how more than 5,200 passengers have benefitted from electric vehicle transfers over 152,000 kilometers, resulting in the reduction of approximately 27 tonnes of CO2 emissions. These figures exemplify the practical impact of EasyJet holidays’ aspirations for more responsible and eco-friendly travel alternatives.

Through strategic partnerships with organizations such as Abta, UN Tourism, and other responsible tourism training bodies, EasyJet holidays aims to drive meaningful change and set new standards within the industry. By embedding sustainability at the core of business decisions, the company not only elevates its own brand but catalyzes broader industry transformations.

EasyJet holidays is positioning itself as more than just a travel provider; it is leading the way toward making tourism sustainable and equitable for all stakeholders involved. The Impact Report serves as both a reflection of progress and a blueprint for future strategies, confirming the operator’s pledge to use travel as a force for good. The momentum created through this report could very well influence how other tour operators respond to environmental challenges moving forward.

With the launch of its Impact Report, EasyJet holidays is not only aiming to set benchmarks within the sector but also encouraging other players to prioritize sustainable practices and invest significantly in communities to create holidays with impact. This initiative is expected to resonate well with consumers increasingly concerned about the environmental and social impact of their travel choices.
