Nigel Edwards, Vice President WW Channel Sales & Marketing at Western Digital, stated, "Improving hardware efficiency and implementing high-density storage can reduce data centers' resource consumption." This shift is critical as electricity demand is projected to more than double by 2030.

Some companies, like Start Campus in Portugal, are leading the charge in sustainability. They have developed the largest data center in the country, SIN01, which operates entirely on renewable energy. India Oliveira, Sustainability Manager at Start Campus, remarked, "The theme for Earth Day this year, ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ perfectly aligns with our mission. We recognize that the power to protect our planet lies in the innovative solutions we implement today." The facility utilizes seawater cooling technology, reducing freshwater consumption while maintaining energy efficiency.

Clean transport is pivotal in reducing carbon emissions, and the transition to renewable power sources must accompany the expansion of EV adoption.
