Dubai is gearing up for Ramadan 2025 with vibrant celebrations and community initiatives. Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, has launched its second edition of the #RamadaninDubai campaign. This initiative, developed through collaboration with government, semi-government, and private sector partners, aims to embrace the spirit of Ramadan by showcasing the unique ambience of the city and reflecting authentic Emirati traditions.
The #RamadaninDubai campaign aims to create joy throughout the city by uniting various entities to enrich the collective Ramadan experience. With the campaign's rollout, residents and visitors can expect stunning light displays illuminating Dubai’s roads, thanks to the partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). These decorations will transform the cityscape, making it vibrant and festive for the holy month.
To warmly welcome newcomers, visitors arriving during Ramadan will receive a special #RamadaninDubai stamp on their passports, organized with the General Department of Residencies and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai (GDRFA Dubai). The campaign also invites residents to participate actively through the ‘Dubai’s Best Decorated Ramadan Homes’ competition, celebrating creativity and community spirit during this special time.
Iconic mosques will be illuminated with unique projection displays, adding to the enchanting atmosphere throughout Dubai. Beyond visual splendor, the campaign promises cultural engagements through various events and initiatives ranging from cultural festivals to live performances and family-oriented activities. Iftar and Suhoor events will be plentiful, complemented by Ramadan markets, extended shopping hours, and outdoor activities inviting all to partake.
Among the humanitarian focus of the campaign, charitable efforts will provide meals to the needy and support various causes, reinforcing the spirit of giving inherent to Ramadan. The traditional Ramadan Cannon, set up by Dubai Police, will signal the time for Iftar, creating moments of togetherness as people from various backgrounds join to break their fasts.
Simultaneously, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) has laid out official working hours for the month of Ramadan. Customers can access services at main sites, including Al Jafiliya and Al Manara, with operating hours modified to accommodate the holy month. Daily hours will run from 9 AM to 5 PM, with reduced hours on Fridays, extending from 9 AM to noon and recommencing from 2 PM to 5 PM. The Al Aweer Customer Happiness Centre will operate from 7 AM to 5 PM throughout the week.
To stand ready for the needs of residents and visitors, the Customer Happiness Centre at Terminal 3 of the Airport will remain open 24 hours. Also, the offering of services via smart applications and the official website will be accessible throughout the holy month, returning to customer support through the Amer Call Centre available 24/7.
Ramadan Tips for 2025
For those just starting to prepare for Ramadan, the fasting hours will be shorter this year - expected to begin on March 1, 2025. Ramadan follows the lunar (Hijri) calendar, which moves about 10 to 12 days earlier each year. Since Ramadan is now positioned earlier, daylight hours will be shorter than they were last year. This year's Iftar times are expected to reflect the change, becoming more manageable for those fasting.
For many residents and first-timers to Dubai, recommendations for Iftar bookings at restaurants are already buzzing. Visitors can explore delectable offerings to look forward to and special deals crafted to welcome the holy month. If you're planning your first Iftar, Dubai serves as the perfect backdrop to experience the festivities.
The approach of Ramadan brings the promise of togetherness, celebration, and reflection, especially within the seamless blend of cultural traditions and modernity. Dubai plans to deliver splendid experiences, inviting everyone to celebrate the holy month filled with blessings.
