The Investigative Committee of Russia has announced it will investigate the recent drone attack in Novorossiysk, which left five people injured, including two children. The attack, carried out by Ukrainian UAVs, resulted in significant damage to three apartment buildings and a grain terminal, sparking a fire at the facility.
On the night of May 3, 2025, Novorossiysk was subjected to a massive drone assault, with the first reports of damage surfacing shortly after 5:40 AM. According to local authorities, the drone debris impacted several residential areas, particularly in the Avrora residential complex and on Suvorov Street. The Investigative Committee stated it would thoroughly assess the circumstances surrounding the incident and evaluate the actions of all involved.
Mayor Andrei Kravchenko confirmed that emergency recovery plans are being developed for each affected location. "We are organizing teams to assess the damage and provide assistance to the victims," he stated. The local emergency regime has been activated in the Southern and Primorsky districts of the city to manage the situation effectively.
In the aftermath of the attack, four members of a family from Rostov-on-Don were hospitalized, with reports indicating that the father and his five-year-old son are in serious condition. The mother and another child are also receiving medical care, as their injuries were classified as moderate. The family had only moved into their new apartment in the Kristall-3 residential complex two days prior to the attack.
In addition to the residential damage, the drone strike led to a fire at a grain terminal in Novorossiysk, where three reservoirs were reported damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties at the terminal, according to the Delo group of companies. However, the attack did cause injuries to a man near the Proletarsky cement plant, where debris from the drones struck a residential building.
The regional operational headquarters reported that the drone attack damaged homes at three separate addresses. At one location, windows were shattered and a car was damaged, while another address saw damage to three apartments, including one residential unit. Thankfully, no injuries were reported at this site.
In a related incident, the Krasnodar Territory government has pledged assistance to residents whose homes were damaged by drone debris in nearby Anapa. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that necessary support would be provided to help residents restore their properties. Fortunately, the Anapa area did not experience any casualties or severe damage, although some outbuildings and windows were affected.
As the situation unfolded, the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian air defense systems successfully shot down 47 drones in the Krasnodar Territory and an additional nine over the Rostov Region during the night. In the Rostov region, the aftermath of the drone attacks resulted in the roofs of two houses catching fire in the village of Tselina. A family of five was evacuated from one of the homes, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
