Diva Buffs Enhance Gameplay In Monster Hunter Wilds

Players can gain useful stat boosts from the Grand Hub Diva's performances.

The Diva in Monster Hunter Wilds' Grand Hub is more than just for show. While she does put on a spectacular performance, what players might not know is that she can actually provide hunters with some useful buffs for their next hunt. Yes, the Diva's music is magical in more than one way. The buffs she gives aren't particularly special, but they can still prove to be useful the next time players go and fight something in MH Wilds. If you're unsure how to get these Diva buffs, here's how to get them.

How to Get Diva Buffs in MH Wilds

If you want to get some free stats courtesy of the Grand Hub Diva, all you need to do is stand close to her altar and stay there until she's done singing. After her performance, she'll whisper a short prayer, and a message will pop up on your screen saying that the Diva's voice of prayer and gratitude boosted your stats. You need to be near the Diva for this to work. If you're sitting all the way back at the canteen with your Meal Vouchers, then you may not get the buff.

The Diva performs at the Grand Hub usually at nighttime, though not all the time. Unfortunately, players won't be able to change the time of day while in the Grand Hub, so if you want the Diva's buffs, you'll need to wait for her. You'll know the Diva is about to perform if Alma gets up from her spot near the tent and moves to the performance area.

As mentioned, the buffs she provides aren't exactly special. The Diva can grant you any one of the following stat bonuses: +50 Max Health, +25 Max Stamina, +7 Attack, +25 Defense, or Improved red health recovery. Again, you can get only one of these buffs from a performance. The stat bonuses are similar to the boosts you get from other sources, and they don't appear to stack, as the game seems to treat them as if they came from the same source. For example, the Diva's +7 Attack boost is the same as the boost you get from a Mega Demondrug. Instead of getting a +14 Attack boost, the buff remains at 7. The same general idea applies to the rest — if you want the other stat boosts without listening to the Diva, just eat one of the following: Any meal or Ancient Potion (Health), Rations or Well-Done Steak (Stamina), Mega Demondrug (Attack), Mega Armorskin (Defense), Immunizer (red health recovery).

Monster Hunter Wilds Overview

Monster Hunter Wilds is the current generational entry for Capcom's beloved fantasy monster hunting franchise, and it shows. The developer and publishing giant have reworked many of the systems that needed it and improved upon others in countless ways – its fourteen weapon types notwithstanding – so perhaps a Monster Hunter Wilds Weapon Guide is in order.

Players are thrown into the thick of it quite early on in Monster Hunter Wilds. After a quick riding tutorial, the game immediately expects players to choose a weapon and go after a big green monster. Therefore, we thought it imperative to go over every weapon available to players right off the bat, as well as to explain the kinds of combat scenarios they are best suited for, so everyone can have a more even playing experience when entering the Forbidden Lands.

Weapon Types in Monster Hunter Wilds

The game features fourteen weapon types, each with its unique characteristics and advantages. Here’s a brief overview of some of the prominent ones:

Sword & Shield (SS) - This is essentially the most basic of all the weapon types, offering a well-balanced experience for all players. It is potent for any starting player, and even more useful for those who choose to master it: allowing and awarding massive damage numbers. The sword & shield is a fast weapon set, which dishes out slicing damage with every touch of the button. Utilizing the shield also offers blunt damage, and making use of many combinations will have any monster begging for mercy.

Great Sword (GS) - What would a Monster Hunter Wilds weapon guide be without the obvious anime big sword? The great sword features incredibly slow attacks dishing out incredible amounts of damage. At close range, it deals massive blows, and it even allows hunters to execute cool new power moves that ultimately result in the monster being hit back or to the side.

Long Sword (LS) - Another big anime sword, this traditional long sword resembles an ōdachi and features many sweeping moves combined with high jumps. Long sword users command fluid swiping combinations allowing for great maneuverability and dexterity while also affording big damage and a whole heck of a lot of monster part severing.

Dual Blades (DS) - This weapon focuses heavily on rapid blows at the cost of stamina depletion. Mastering it affords players extreme maneuverability, and while damage is not great at first glance, the many single-digits add up exponentially for hunters who manage to continue dealing their damage nonstop.

Hunting Horn (HH) - This instrument is meant for total supportive play, providing buffs to party members. It is the most challenging weapon to master, especially when playing solo, as users are vulnerable when playing the notes needed for certain buffs.

Hammer (H) - If knocking monsters out is your goal, the hammer is undoubtedly for you. It is slow and heavy, but nothing else compares to its raw knockout potential!

Lance (L) - The lance features a massive tower shield and is primarily used by hunters with significant skill. It allows players to poke monsters while delivering slower, less chaotic damage numbers.

Gunlance (GL) - A modified lance that can shoot shells, the gunlance offers a more animated combat style compared to its pokey counterpart.

Switch Axe (SA) - This weapon can switch between an axe and a great sword, offering versatility that veteran players enjoy.

Charge Blade (CB) - A hybrid weapon that combines sword & shield and axe mechanics, it is fast and can pack a punch but requires mastery to use effectively.

Insect Glaive (IG) - This lightweight weapon allows for significant mobility and mounting monsters more easily, though it requires skill to master its mechanics.

Light Bowgun (LB) - A hybrid crossbow machine gun, it is versatile and allows for movement while attacking.

Heavy Bowgun (HB) - This weapon is slower and clunkier but offers devastating damage output when used correctly.

Bow (B) - A traditional weapon focusing on elemental payloads, bows require skill to master but can be incredibly effective in the right hands.

This is the end of this Monster Hunter Wilds Weapon Guide. While I am a long sword and bow main, delving into each weapon will never let a person down. Players looking into mastering High Rank hunts and slaying tempered beasts will need to be on their absolute A-game when the going gets tough! What weapon will you be using in the Forbidden Lands? Let us know.
