The animated adaptation will premiere on Disney+ alongside rebranded Christmas celebrations at Tokyo Disneyland.

Walt Disney Japan has unveiled exciting news for fans of its popular mobile game and narrative experience, Disney Twisted-Wonderland, as it prepares for the release of its animated adaptation. Set to premiere on Disney+ in October 2025, this project has caught the attention of many, particularly following the recent teaser PV reveal at AnimeJapan 2025, which took place on March 22, 2025.

The teaser trailer and additional casting details were disclosed during a special stage event at AnimeJapan 2025, showing that yet another chapter of the Twisted-Wonderland story is set to engage audiences worldwide. The voice cast for the character Yuuto Madoka has been announced as Youhei Azakami, further heightening anticipation for what fans can expect.

In a statement, the production team confirmed that the first season, titled Episode of Heartslabyul, will be part of the forthcoming series, with plans for future seasons including Episode of Savanaclaw and Episode of Octavinelle, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of this enchanting world.

This anime adaptation aims to capitalize on the success of the original game, which has captivated fans with its blend of Disney villain inspiration and complex characters. The game received numerous accolades, such as the Google Play Best of 2020 Creative award and #Twitter Trend award in 2020, highlighting its widespread popularity and acclaim.

Fans of Disney villains will be thrilled to know that characters from various beloved stories will be featured, including the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Scar from The Lion King, and Ursula from The Little Mermaid. This imaginative blend of worlds is expected to draw viewers into the enchanting yet dark atmosphere that the game has become known for.

The teaser PV showcases a visually stunning narrative, beginning with a dark mirror that hints at the challenges and adventures awaiting the protagonist, Yuuto Madoka, who unexpectedly finds himself enrolled in the prestigious Night Raven College. This magical institution, inspired by legendary Disney characters, divides its students into several houses based on distinct themes from Disney stories.

In what promises to be a thrilling storyline, Yuuto will navigate his first days at Night Raven College, encountering both challenges and formidable dorm leaders, notably Riddle Rosehearts of Heartslabyul, who is depicted in the trailer with a fierce demeanor. This introduction to the world will set the stage for intricate relationships and character development throughout the series.

Youhei Azakami, voicing Yuuto, expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating he wishes to embody the character’s spirit. While I may be a newcomer, I want to approach recording with Yuuto's determination, he noted in a recent interview.

Aside from the animated series, Disney has also initiated a significant transformation within its parks, recently updating the traditional Christmas Fantasy event at Tokyo Disneyland, which has been a staple for 35 years. The park has rebranded this event to Disney Christmas, reflecting a shift from tradition to a more guest-focused approach.

Mr. Ishihara of Tokyo Disneyland explained that the name change was implemented to create a more straightforward message about Christmas celebrations in the parks. He emphasized that, although they have changed the wording, the core essence of the celebrations remains unchanged. We wanted a name that would instantly convey the festive spirit of Christmas, he stated. The value of our Christmas events remains the same, and we aim to provide joyous experiences for our guests, regardless of the title.

The move indicates a broader trend of adapting to changing guest expectations while maintaining a magical experience for visitors. Ishihara believes that the charm of the traditional Christmas atmosphere, reminiscent of fairytale scenes, will continue to be a highlight of the resort’s offerings.

As the roster of updates rolls out in preparation for the debut of the Twisted-Wonderland anime, Disney aims not just to engage existing fans but also to attract a new generation of viewers drawn to the rich storytelling and artistic aesthetics that lie at the heart of the franchise.

Continuing to evolve alongside its audience, Disney has committed to enhancing the enchantment of its parks and storytelling platforms. The interconnectedness of live events, anime adaptations, and theme park experiences exemplifies the company's strategy to create a more immersive Disney experience for fans worldwide.

With the promise of new adventures and the loyalty of its fans, Disney is poised to reach even greater heights as it embraces innovation and creativity across all its platforms.
