Disney Themed Magic Returns To Danse Avec Les Stars

Contestants shine in enchanting performances with emotional narratives as elimination looms.

This week’s episode of Danse avec les stars (Dancing with the Stars) Season 14, broadcasted on February 28, 2025, was full of enchanting performances inspired by Disney classics. Following last week’s elimination of television journalist Nelson Monfort, the competition continued to heat up with 11 celebrities vying for the top spot under the festive Disney theme.

Opening the night, swimmer Florent Manaudou and his partner Elsa Bois performed a beautiful rumba to "L'amour brille sous les étoiles" from The Lion King, earning high praise from the judges with each giving them 8 points, totaling 32 points. Judge Jean-Marc Généreux remarked, "The magic unfolded, and I loved every moment!" This kick-off performance set the stage for what would be an exciting episode filled with nostalgia and talent.

Following this standout performance was the duo of Lénie Vacher and Jordan Mouillerac, fresh off their victorious quickstep the previous week. This time, the pair dazzled the audience with their foxtrot themed around Alice au pays des merveilles (Alice in Wonderland). Vacher, who is marked as one of the strongest contenders this season, received rave reviews from the judges. "You were like a professional dancer," Jean-Marc said admiringly, awarding her 9 points, which contributed to her total of 36 points.

Adil Rami and Ana Riera took their shot at the samba, choosing the classic number from Aladdin, but the performance left some room for improvement, garnering them 29 points. Rami candidly shared with Riera before the performance, "J'ai un peu triché" — translated as "I cheated a little" — admitting to some shortcuts taken during practice. While the pair displayed charisma on the dance floor, the judges noted there was still room to grow.

Mayane, the actress previously surprised by a guest appearance from singer Yanns during the last episode, followed up with her own American smooth alongside Christophe Licata, performing to "Parti..." from La Petite Sirène (The Little Mermaid). Généreux noted how she had transported him with her dance, though he also provided additional technical advice, and the pair scored 27 points.

The episode encompassed many heartwarming moments, including Lénie Vacher reflecting on her emotional history with her father. Commenting on the impact of judge Jean-Marc Généreux's support during her performance, she said, "Entendre ces mots-là... Ça m’a tellement impactée." His empathy with her story deeply moved her. It was evident how intertwined personal narratives played significant roles this season, not just with Vacher but throughout the night.

The dynamics continued as the performances proceeded through the night with Charlotte de Turckheim and Yann-Alrick Mortreuil taking to the floor for their waltz themed to Ratatouille, managing to score 28 points and showing notable improvements. Claude Dartois delivered a paso doble on Pirates des Caraïbes (Pirates of the Caribbean), scoring 31 points, also praising Généreux’s coaching style.

Yet it all culminated when the audience voted, leading to another elimination round. With tension building, the results declared Sophie Davant, paired with Nico Archambault, the second contestant to exit the competition, culminating her run no matter how hard she had fought on the dance floor with 20 total points.

The full recap of the evening assured both contestants and viewers alike were engaged as the scores would be added to future viewer votes—stirring anticipation for the next episode scheduled for March 14, 2025.
