Guardians everywhere are on the hunt for the newly released Exotic weapon Barrow-Dyad, introduced with Destiny 2's Episode: Heresy. This unique Exotic submachine gun promises to shake up gameplay, featuring some remarkable attributes. But obtaining it won't be as straightforward as players might hope; they'll need to complete the quest line known as The Taken Path, leading to the final mission called Derealize. Here's how players can effectively navigate these challenges to add the sought-after Barrow-Dyad to their arsenals.
The adventure begins with players entering The Nether, where they need to locate a specific Taken Blight. These Blights aren't just floating markers; they are the cornerstone of initiating the quest. Guardians will find one of these Blights most reliably at the Hall of Souls. This area is located within the Dreadnaught zone, but spawns can occur randomly, so players may have to try several times. Once the Blight is spotted, jumping inside will transport players to the Ascendant plane and begin their quest.
Upon entering the Blight, players will stand on a special rune plate. This action will display a prompt on-screen indicating the direction they must move once they leave it. Following the directional instruction is key, as doing so will reveal the Taken Osseous Fragment needed to proceed with the quest. After securing this fragment, it's back to the Shaping Slab located at Eris Morn's apartment.
At the Slab, players must engage with the Runic Enhancement menu to activate the Scotopic Rune. This step is necessary to progress the quest properly. Though Guardians may encounter some challenges unlocking this ability, the solution lies within running more activities and increasing your reputation with the Seasonal vendor.
After activating the Scotopic Rune, players will then need to venture back out to the K1 Revelation Lost Sector, situated at Sorrow’s Harbor on the Moon. Here, they will find another Taken Blight. It is imperative to destroy this Blight, engage with the rune plate, and follow the same mechanics to collect the next Taken Osseous Fragment after defeating the enemies within.
Next, the quest continues to the Forgotten Shore, back on Earth, where players will tackle the Veles Labyrinth Lost Sector. Again, players must locate yet another Taken Blight, activate the rune, and after defeating the ensuing foes, collect the second fragment.
With two fragments collected, players now return to the Slab for the next step, which introduces three curse quests: Curse of Endurance, Curse of Revenge, and Curse of Urgency. Each of these quests requires players to utilize Taken Relics to defeat enemies within specific locations such as Sorrow's Harbor, the Hallowed Grove, and during the Nightmare Hunt: Pride.
Once the curses are complete, it’s time to resume the search for the remaining Taken Osseous Fragments. Players will find these scattered among Hive Statues within The Nether. Engaging with the statues triggers the spawning of mini-bosses, which, when defeated, drop the fragments needed to progress to the final mission.
After gathering all three Taken Osseous Fragments, the ultimate quest, Derealize, is unlocked. This Exotic mission is pivotal as it's the culmination of tirelessly completing prior objectives. Inside Derealize, players will encounter various Dread enemies, and they will need to overcome unique mechanics, including avoiding the ominous Suffocatiing Terror associated with Taken Eyes and completing relic puzzles.
Slaying the final boss within this mission will reward players with the intriguing Barrow-Dyad SMG. This weapon, characterized by its exceptional Panic Response intrinsic perk, allows damage dealt to build up energy for powerful blighted shots. The crafting possibilities don't stop at simply obtaining the weapon but extend to customizing its various components for the best possible playstyle.
Overall, Barrow-Dyad isn't just another weapon; it's the product of a carefully folded quest line filled with intriguing mechanics and secrets to unravel. For all the Guardians ready to undertake this endeavor, patience and skill will be as important as firepower. Good luck!
