Denise Richards Opens Up About Her Life With Charlie Sheen And Brooke Mueller

The new reality show reveals family dynamics and deep-rooted connections between the former spouses.

Denise Richards has taken audiences on a captivating trip inside her personal life with the premiere of her new reality series, Denise Richards & Her Wild Things, which began airing on March 4, 2025. The show offers viewers not just glimmers of Richards' celebrity lifestyle but also the dynamics of her family, peppered with special appearances by her ex-husband Charlie Sheen and his former wife, Brooke Mueller.

On the March 11 episode, viewers were treated to the heartwarming yet comical family interactions as Denise, alongside her daughters Sami and Lola Sheen, revealed their preparation for a memorial service honoring the family pet lizard recently lost by Mueller. During this moment, 19-year-old Lola casually mentioned, "With Brooke, I pray she is okay. I think she was married to my dad. I actually… yeah, they got married — I'm pretty sure." This prompted laughter and surprise from her 20-year-old sister Sami, who asked their mother, "Was she married? She was married to him?" Denise responded teasingly, "You didn’t know she was married to your dad?" Shocking revelations about family history seemed to be the order of the day!

Richards and Sheen's tumultuous past, filled with love and conflict, has had lasting repercussions on their co-parenting relationship. The pair married in June 2002 at the estate of TV creator Gary David Goldberg and welcomed their first daughter, Sami, the following year. Lola was born shortly before Denise filed for divorce, citing issues during her pregnancy. The divorce was finalized by November 2006, after almost four years of marriage.

Charlie Sheen's multifaceted relationship with both Denise and Brooke is also highlighted throughout Richards' show. After Denise, Sheen married Mueller in May 2008, and they welcomed twin boys shortly after. The couple's relationship fluctuated with public challenges, primarily due to substance issues they both faced, leading to their divorce by November 2010.

Denise's commitment to her daughters remains unwavering. Following their divorce, it was Denise who temporarily took custody of Mueller and Sheen's sons, Max and Bob, between 2012 and 2013 due to concerns over Mueller's erratic behavior. Apart from this historical backdrop, Richards has recently expressed her desire to maintain peaceful co-parenting. "Truth be told, I don’t really call it co-parenting. I call it parenting. He has his way, and I have my way," she revealed. Richards stressed the need for collaboration for the sake of their daughters, now adults at 21 and 19.

Interestingly, Denise has sought to ease the tension with Mueller as they both raised children fathered by Sheen. During one episode, Denise extended the olive branch, inviting Brooke to join her family for a picnic, proclaiming, "I wanted to include Brooke, Charlie's other ex-wife. There’s a lot of history there. Her sons are my daughters’ brothers. We are a big, blended family." This interaction reflects the deep-rooted connections and the commitment to maintain harmony for the sake of the children.

Further illuminating Richards' current life, it was revealed during discussions with media outlets how Charlie has also remained involved and supportive of Denise's new reality show. "Charlie was very supportive and excited about the girls doing their show; this is a wonderful platform for them," Richards explained, emphasizing his encouraging attitude toward Sami and Lola as they navigate this new chapter as young adults.

Despite claims of financial hardship due to child support disputes, which saw Charlie Sheen ordered by the court to pay "zero dollars per month" starting from August 1, 2018, Denise continues to push forward with her career. She reportedly endorsed the idea of beginning the reality show as another means of securing financial stability after facing challenges post-real estate transactions related to her ex. A source close to her stated, "The only reason she’s doing the reality show is the same reason she’s doing her OnlyFans—she needs the money." Richards' motivation to share her story might stem partly from regaining control over her narrative.

Ostensibly, Denise's approach toward motherhood focuses on empowering her daughters to be resilient. “My girls are much stronger than I was when I was their age," she expressed, reflecting on their upbringing within the industry unlike her own experience growing up in Illinois. She openly encourages them, focusing on positive engagement as they engage with social media.

With the reality series providing insight not only o the dynamics within her immediate family but also the larger blended family concepts, Richards presents relatable challenges faced by many parents amid real-life situations. From managing sibling rivalry to addressing the unique needs of her daughter Eloise, who has special needs, new viewers find connections to their own lives.

Denise Richards' latest venture seems to serve not only as entertainment but as a reminder of the importance of resilience, acceptance, and fostering relationships within blended families and co-parenting dynamics. The series Denise Richards & Her Wild Things airs on Bravo, challenging conventional narratives about celebrity life and offering genuine family moments instead.
