Demi Moore is officially an Oscar nominee! It has been a long, somewhat unpredictable, but very much deserved 40-year career for the actress, who recently celebrated her first major award win at the Golden Globes for her now Oscar-nominated role in The Substance.
After the announcement of her nomination, which came at around 6 am Los Angeles time, Moore first expressed her surprise, stating, "I don't know if I'm quite in my body."
Addressing the recent Los Angeles wildfires, she noted, "Life has been full of contrasts with all that's been going on, such incredible highs and devastating lows. Last night, a new fire broke out, and I was on alert all night because it wasn't far from us." Despite this tension, Moore maintained, "I'm feeling some deep humility on many, many levels," adding, "I'm so grateful for the recognition."
Moore reiterated the meaning behind her nomination, saying, "It's not just for me, it's also about what The Substance and the genre represent. I'm here to be in service to something bigger."
During her acceptance speech for the Golden Globes, where she won for Best Actress, she reflected on how she once felt like she might leave Hollywood. With the film's success, she took pride, saying, "This could have been an absolute disaster" and went on to share, "There were certain parallels with this film and Ghost," referring to her 1990 romance thriller.
Over on social media, her eldest daughter, Rumer Willis, was among the first to honor her win. Sharing a nostalgic photo from their past, she wrote on her Instagram stories, "OSCAR NOMINATED @demimoore." The heartfelt portrait shows Moore and Rumer as kids, bonding over their short brown hair and matching outfits.
Moore's excitement also shone through her victory statement, where she expressed, "Being nominated for an Oscar is an incredible honor and these last few months have been beyond my wildest dreams. Truly there are no words to fully express my joy and overwhelming gratitude for this recognition. Not only for me but for what this film and genre represent."
Acknowledging the recent wildfire crisis, Moore added, "I am deeply humbled. This is a time of incredible contrasts, and right now, my heart is with my friends, family, neighbors, and community here in LA. The fires have devastated so many lives, but to see the way our community has united leaves me in awe of the resilience and compassion. This moment reminds me of how incredible we are when we stand together."
Moore’s daughter, Scout, celebrated the win as well. When her mother’s Golden Globe win was announced, Scout and the rest of the family cheered, with Scout posting, "SHE DID IT 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭" on social media. The family gathered for the event, highlighting the support and love shared during these monumental moments.
On the red carpet, Moore told Entertainment Tonight, "Being a mom—and now a grandma—makes these wins even more special. Honestly, all of this would not be as rich or sweet without my family. The balance of it makes everything perfect."
With such immense talent and support from her family, fans are eagerly anticipating the Oscars, where Demi Moore hopes to take home her first Academy Award. Given the outpouring of love and respect from her daughters, it’s clear this moment is not just about winning for Moore but also about celebrating with her family and appreciating the community’s resilience during tough times. We can’t wait to see what happens at the Oscars!
