District Magistrates (DMs) across Delhi have been tasked with ensuring the installation of air raid sirens throughout the capital by May 9. While the Delhi Airport has an existing siren system, new sirens were being installed in areas such as Dwarka, Uttam Nagar, Najafgarh, and Kapashera by late Thursday evening.
In response to the heightened threat level, mock drills were conducted in 55 locations across Delhi on May 7. These drills included simulated blackouts to prepare for potential emergency situations. Sources indicate that anti-aircraft guns have been deployed throughout the city, with paramilitary commandos and SWAT teams also on standby for rapid response.

Nine Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, including two women, are stationed at this metro station, which is monitored by 41 operational CCTV cameras.
In an advisory issued by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), residents were advised against switching on backup power supplies during declared power blackouts to maintain safety. This directive came after several businesses ignored blackout protocols during the previous drills.
As the situation develops, the Haryana government has also responded by cancelling all leaves for civil employees. Notifications released late Thursday night emphasized the need for preparedness in light of recent events. The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services instructed that all sanctioned leaves be cancelled immediately due to the increased risk of fire incidents amid changing operational conditions.
In an alarming escalation, reports from the region indicate that on the night of May 7 and 8, the Pakistan Army engaged in shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Areas such as Kupwara and Baramulla were targeted, prompting a proportionate response from the Indian Army. Pakistani troops reportedly resorted to firing small arms and artillery, with no casualties reported thus far.
The Indian military has been actively countering these threats, with reports indicating that Indian forces shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet during aerial combat. Explosions were also reported near the Jaisalmer Air Force Station, highlighting the direct engagement between the two nations.
