The Warmste Week in Brugge has officially started! At exactly 16:00, presenters Fien Germijns, Sander Gillis, Kawtar Ehlalouch, Joris Brys, and Maureen Vanherberghen, alongside famed artist Niels Destadsbader and Brugge's mayor Dirk De Fauw, kicked off this magical week. For seven days, these five presenters from Studio Brussel and MNM will be broadcasting non-stop radio and television from Het Warmste Huis.
This year, the theme of the event shines brightly with the focus on 'loneliness.' The launch hours overflowed with exciting activities, heartwarming stories, and delightful song requests. The band Portland turned the spotlight with their rendition of 'Don't Stop Believin',' marking the first musical highlight of the week.
Ambassador Francisco Schuster joined forces with action-takers across the country, demonstrating the spirit of community involvement. Today, he was accompanied by helper Hakim Chatar as they engaged with local events—painting window decorations at the directrice's office of De Bever primary school in Roeselare, escaping from an escape room created by students from VB De Zonnebloem, and playing badminton with patients from the psychiatric hospital OLV in Brugge.
Dara Oguntubu welcomed numerous action initiators at Het Warmste Dorp, where Vlambassadeur Zita Wauters was seen tirelessly selling flame-shaped items and hats. The De Warmste Koekenbak event, hosted by Ketnet-wrapper Thomas De Smet and expert baker Sarah Mouhamou, was another highlight of the day.
Currently, Portland is delivering their warmest performance as the first artist on the rooftop of Het Warmste Huis. Later this evening, the stage will be taken over by Meau and Pommelien Thijs. Closing out today’s festivities at 't Zand is the nostalgic ‘Back to the 90s & Nillies’ show. Every night, Niels Destadsbader will reflect live on the most memorable moments from De Warmste Week.
Through these live sessions, the charm of the event continues, with Francisco making sure to appear frequently, providing daily updates alongside guests like Sarah Mouhamou, William Boeva, and Kawtar Ehlalouch. Don't miss De Warmste Woensdag, kicking off at 21:50 on VRT 1 and VRT MAX.
