The spotlight is set to shine on the David di Donatello 2025 awards ceremony, taking place tonight, May 7, 2025, at the iconic Teatro 5 in Cinecittà, Rome. This 70th edition of the prestigious awards, organized by the Fondazione Accademia del Cinema Italiano and Rai, in collaboration with Cinecittà S.p.A., promises to celebrate the best of Italian cinema.

Meanwhile, Ferzan Özpetek's "Diamanti" has clinched the David dello spettatore, an award determined by audience votes. In a special twist for this milestone edition, the Premio Speciale CINECITTÀ DAVID 70 will be awarded to Giuseppe Tornatore, celebrating his contributions to the cinematic landscape.
Leading the nominations this year are "Berlinguer – La grande ambizione" by Andrea Segre and "Parthenope" by Paolo Sorrentino, both of which have secured an impressive fifteen nominations each. Hot on their heels are "L’arte della gioia" by Valeria Golino and "Vermiglio" by Maura Delpero, with fourteen nominations. Margherita Vicario's debut film, "Gloria!", has also made a mark with nine nominations.
