Originally a student of philosophy, Khrisanf's life took a transformative turn when he encountered the Gospel and met Karpofor, who introduced him to the mysteries of faith and baptized him. Despite his father's attempts to dissuade him from his newfound beliefs, Khrisanf remained steadfast in his faith.
Polemiy, desperate to break his son's will, imprisoned Khrisanf but eventually relented, allowing him to marry Daria, a woman knowledgeable in philosophy. Contrary to Polemiy's expectations, Khrisanf managed to convert Daria to Christianity, and together they decided to feign a marriage to prepare for a life dedicated to spiritual pursuits in the afterlife.
The couple became known for their efforts to spread Christianity among the youth, converting many pagans to the faith. However, their activities attracted the attention of Prefect Kelerin, who arrested them and brought them before Klavdiy, who sought to compel Khrisanf to sacrifice to Jupiter. Undeterred, Khrisanf refused to renounce his faith, leading to his torture. He was tied with bull’s sinews that were soaked in water, which, as they dried, would cut painfully into his flesh.
Miraculously, God intervened, saving Khrisanf from his torment. Klavdiy, witnessing this divine act, recognized God and, along with his family, was baptized. Unfortunately, this act of faith led to their martyrdom at the hands of the ruler. Soon after, Khrisanf and Daria were captured again. Following unsuccessful attempts to persuade them to abandon their beliefs, they were executed by being buried alive, a grim end to their devotion.
