Danny Dyer Reunites With Linda Henry In Mr Bigstuff

The beloved duo returns to screens this July in Sky's comedy series.

Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer is set to reunite with soap legend Linda Henry for the second season of Sky’s popular comedy series Mr Bigstuff. The duo, who have not been seen together since Dyer's character Mick Carter left the iconic BBC soap in 2022, will bring their chemistry back to screens this summer.

Dyer, who joined EastEnders in 2013, quickly became a fan favorite as the no-nonsense pub owner Mick Carter. Known for his love of family and his strong personality, Mick was a central character for nine years, with his final scenes airing on Christmas Day in 2022. In those last moments, viewers saw Mick disappear into the sea, leaving fans speculating about his fate.

Since his departure from the show, Dyer has been busy with various projects. He recently starred in the crime film Marching Powder and received critical acclaim for his performance in the Disney+ drama Rivals, where he appeared alongside David Tennant. Now, he is returning to the small screen as Lee Campbell in the upcoming season of Mr Bigstuff.

The series, which premiered last year, follows two estranged brothers, Lee and Glen (played by Ryan Sampson), who discover that their father is not dead as they believed. Picking up just two weeks after this shocking revelation, the show promises to deliver more chaos and comedic moments as the brothers navigate their complicated relationship.

In an exciting twist for fans of EastEnders, Linda Henry, who portrayed Shirley Carter on the show from 2006 until her departure three years ago, will be joining Dyer in Mr Bigstuff. Henry’s character, Pam, is described as a "no-nonsense, hands-on mechanic" at the family haulage firm, adding a new dynamic to the series. Henry's return to acting has generated significant buzz, especially among loyal viewers of the soap.

Henry's character, Shirley, was a pivotal figure in EastEnders, particularly during the storyline where it was revealed that she was Mick's mother, a twist that shocked audiences in 2014. Since her exit from the soap, fans have eagerly awaited her return, and her reunion with Dyer is being heralded as a highlight of the upcoming season.

Alongside Dyer and Henry, the second season will also feature Shaun Williamson, known for his role as Barry Evans in EastEnders, who will be playing an angry clown. Additionally, Rula Lenska, a familiar face from Coronation Street, will portray an eccentric character named Rita, further enriching the show's cast.

Fans have expressed their excitement about the reunion, with one commenting, "I genuinely stopped in my tracks and thought this was a Shirley Carter return first look." Another fan shared their enthusiasm, saying, "The fact our Shirl will be back on our screens, omg I’ve missed her. I will have to tune in!"

The new season of Mr Bigstuff is set to air in July on Sky and NOW, promising to deliver both laughter and drama as the characters navigate their intertwined lives. With Dyer's BAFTA-nominated performance and the addition of beloved soap stars, anticipation is building for what this season will bring.

As the soap opera world continues to evolve, the reunion of Dyer and Henry is a reminder of the lasting connections formed on screen. Fans of both EastEnders and Mr Bigstuff can look forward to a summer filled with nostalgia and entertainment.
