All Dannielynn Birkhead wanted for Christmas was Hugh Jackman under the tree. Her dad made sure the 18-year-old daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith wasn't disappointed — even if it took a little improvising. Larry Birkhead shared on Instagram Dec. 27 how he "saved Christmas" with a cardboard cutout of the "Deadpool & Wolverine" star and, more significantly, tickets to take Dannielynn to see Jackman perform in "From New York With Love." He posted a photo of her holding the tickets next to the Jackman cutout and the Christmas tree.
"All Dannielynn wanted for Christmas was Hugh Jackman under the tree," he wrote. "Since he wasn’t available, the next best thing had to do. Dannielynn got tickets to see @thehughjackman’s Broadway Show, ‘From New York With Love,’ at @radiocitymusichall. It almost didn’t happen," he continued. "Last month, I was up for hours online waiting in the presale to get the tickets. After waiting forever in a queue, I was able to get front row seats and added the meet and greet option. Once I checked out, it discarded the whole cart because the meet and greet portion had sold out by the time I checked out."
Birkhead said he was scrambling after the online mishap. "Days later, when I was asking (a deflated) Dannielynn what she wanted for Christmas, she said, ‘Hugh Jackman under the tree.’ After days of kicking myself for screwing things up and still searching for Dannielynn’s Christmas gifts, I went back online Christmas week and was able to find out some tickets had opened up," Birkhead wrote.
Taking her request literally, he also found a cutout of Jackman. "So, technically speaking, she got her wish, which saved Christmas. I’m just a Dad making dreams come true one day at a time," he added with a grinning emoji. Dannielynn appeared to appreciate the cutout as much as the tickets. "Not sure what we are going to do with this cutout now?? Scratch it, it’s already in her room!" Birkhead wrote.
Birkhead has raised Dannielynn as a single father since Smith died in 2007 at age 39 from an accidental overdose. He often takes to Instagram to share photos with updates about life with his daughter. Ahead of Halloween this year, they went to GalaxyCon’s Nightmare Weekend Miami event, where Dannielynn dressed as a character from the "Terrifier" horror franchise.
Earlier this year, they attended various events, including cosplay conventions, and are also familiar figures at the Kentucky Derby. The duo has enjoyed concerts together, attending performances by Duran Duran and Janet Jackson over the years.
This heartfelt Christmas story is just one of the many moments Larry shares with his daughter, showcasing the love and bond they continue to enjoy, crafting memories together as they navigate life as father and daughter.
