Damietta Port and the General Traffic Administration have reported significant activities over the past 24 hours in Egypt, showcasing the port's crucial role in maritime trade and the administration's efforts to maintain road discipline during a busy period.
At Damietta port, authorities noted intense maritime activity, with 9 ships arriving and 11 ships departing, bringing the total number of vessels in the port to 35 as of March 22, 2025. This level of activity is a clear indication of vibrant trading dynamics, with figures reflecting a healthy flow of exports and imports.
According to local trade authorities, the port handled an impressive total of 13,806 tons of general cargo just in the last day. Key shipments included 2,480 tons of urea, 1,923 tons of cement, and 3,286 tons of clinker. Additionally, the port exported various goods such as 1,000 tons of white cement and 5,117 tons of diverse items, highlighting the diversity of Egyptian exported goods and indicating a robust commercial environment.
On the import side, Damietta port received 18,577 tons of general cargo, which included essential staples like 4,260 tons of corn and nearly 5,000 tons of soybeans. Notable violations included 1,640 for speeding and 13 for driving under the influence, indicating ongoing challenges on the roads. Authorities were also vigilant against other infractions, reporting 46,385 speeding violations and 712 instances of drivers using mobile phones while at the wheel.
Traffic enforcement was further intensified with radars capturing 1,019 vehicles exceeding speed limits across various roads, showcasing the effectiveness of the measures implemented by the administration.
