Dallas Wings Set To Host Indiana Fever At AAC

Marking their first home game outside Arlington, the Wings aim for a record crowd and excitement for WNBA's future.

The Dallas Wings are set to make a historic appearance at the American Airlines Center on June 27 when they host the Indiana Fever. This game, marking the first time the Wings will play outside their standard home at College Park Center in Arlington since 2016, promises to be a thrilling event.

The matchup is notable not just for location but also for the talent involved. The game will feature three of the recent No. 1 picks in the WNBA Draft, including the Fever’s 2024 No. 1 overall selection, Caitlin Clark, and the 2023 top pick, Aliyah Boston. Additionally, the Dallas Wings hold this year's top pick in the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft, which will be held on April 14.

Dallas Wings CEO and Managing Partner Greg Bibb expressed excitement about this milestone. “We are thrilled to bring WNBA basketball to American Airlines Center for the first time,” he said. “Having the best women’s basketball players on the planet playing in a world-class venue such as American Airlines Center is truly fitting.” With a capacity for 20,000 fans, the AAC stands in stark contrast to the Wings' usual venue, which holds only 6,251.

Exclusively for season ticket members, presale access to additional tickets will begin on March 24 at 10 a.m. CT, and general ticket sales will open to the public on March 26 at 10 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster. This first-time event at the AAC comes off the back of a solid 2024 season where the Wings recorded an impressive average attendance of 95% capacity at College Park Center.

In preparation for the game and looking ahead to the new season, the Dallas Wings have undergone significant restructuring. The team welcomed new Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Curt Miller, alongside Head Coach Chris Koclanes. They aim to build on the Wings’ successful momentum from last season, during which they celebrated eight regular-season sellouts.

The Wings have also made several key player acquisitions during the off-season, including signing reigning WNBA Most Improved Player DiJonai Carrington and 2022 All-Rookie Team member NaLyssa Smith. The roster will see the return of standout players such as Arike Ogunbowale, who recently earned All-WNBA Second Team honors and was an All-Star Game MVP for the second time.

Reflecting on the game and the future of the season, Bibb emphasized the unique atmosphere the AAC will bring, stating, “Hosting this game at AAC provides our athletes with the well-deserved opportunity to be showcased in front of a record home crowd.” He anticipates that the June 27 game will not only attract a large audience but will also set the tone for an exciting season ahead.

The event, titled “A Night In Dallas,” aims to celebrate the city while bringing more attention to the WNBA. It reflects the Wings' ambitions, showcasing the best basketball talent against the backdrop of a vibrant Dallas atmosphere.

Fans are encouraged to mark their calendars, not just for the game itself but also for the upcoming 2025 WNBA Draft on April 14, which will air on ESPN. With the Dallas Wings possessing two first-round selections and a total of five picks in this pivotal draft, there is palpable excitement about who they will choose to bolster their squad.

This will be a momentous occasion for both the Dallas Wings and the WNBA, representing a shift towards greater visibility and opportunity for women’s basketball in Dallas and beyond.
