Dagestan Delegation Strengthens Ties With Oman During Visit

A ceremonial meeting and investment talks highlight growing cooperation between Dagestan and Northern Esh-Sharkia.

In a significant diplomatic gesture, Northern Esh-Sharkia, a picturesque province of Oman, rolled out the red carpet for a delegation from Dagestan, Russia. The visit, led by Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, showcased the growing ties between the two regions.

The Governor of Northern Esh-Sharkia, His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed bin Mashari Al Shamsi, organized a ceremonial meeting that included a vibrant performance by a national ensemble and a traditional horse greeting. This warm welcome set the tone for a packed agenda aimed at fostering bilateral cooperation.

The program of the visit featured an official meeting between the leadership of Dagestan and Northern Esh-Sharkia, where both sides engaged in discussions about potential investment projects. Presentations from both Dagestani and Omani companies highlighted various avenues for collaboration, while business-to-business (B2B) negotiations further solidified these partnerships. An exhibition was also held, allowing attendees to explore the economic and investment opportunities available in both regions.

Governor Al Shamsi expressed his enthusiasm for the visit, stating, "We eagerly awaited the Dagestani delegation, and extensive groundwork was laid to understand the economic and investment potential of your republic before your arrival." This sentiment reflects the growing interest in Dagestan's resources and capabilities.

In response, Abdulmuslimov articulated his vision for enhancing bilateral cooperation and conveyed greetings from Sergei Melikov, the Head of Dagestan, to the leadership of Northern Esh-Sharkia. The delegation included prominent figures from Dagestan's business community, representing various sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and industry. Notable participants included leaders from Lazurny Bereg LLC, EtnoMir Kavkaza LLC, Kavkaz LLC, and Shadid Group LLC.

This visit is part of a broader initiative to strengthen economic ties between Dagestan and Oman, a strategy that could yield significant benefits for both regions. By fostering connections in tourism, agriculture, and industry, both parties hope to enhance their economic landscapes and create new opportunities for growth.

In a separate yet equally poignant event, the patriotic action "Banner of Victory" concluded with solemn ceremonies at Mamaev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia. This initiative, which began with a motor rally on May 5, 2025, in Kaspiysk, aimed to commemorate Victory Day and honor the sacrifices made during the Great Patriotic War.

The motor rally, adorned with symbols dedicated to Victory Day, traversed through Dagestan and regions of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts, culminating in Volgograd, a city synonymous with heroism and resilience.

Upon arriving in Volgograd, the Dagestani delegation visited the Stalingrad Battle museum-panorama, a site that memorializes the fierce battles fought during World War II. Following this visit, they unfurled a copy of the Victory Banner at the foot of the memorial complex on Mamaev Kurgan, a site that honors the heroes of the Stalingrad battle.

Ali Ibragimov, the First Deputy Head of the Administration of the Head and Government of the Republic of Dagestan, delivered a heartfelt message from Sergei Melikov to the residents of Volgograd. Melikov underscored the heroism of the soldiers who valiantly defended the Volga land for two hundred days, particularly highlighting the unprecedented scale of battles for the legendary height 102.

In his address, Melikov poignantly recalled the thousands of brave defenders from the North Caucasus regions who participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. He stated, "Eighty years later, in an era of new global challenges, the Banner of Victory once again fills us with pride for our homeland, pain for losses, joy and sorrow, as well as hope for a peaceful future. May the bond between generations strengthen, and may the sky over Russia always be bright and peaceful."

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Dagestani delegation presented a large copy of the Victory Banner to the administration of the Volgograd region for safekeeping and laid flowers at the monument situated on Mamaev Kurgan, paying tribute to the sacrifices made during the war.

The "Banner of Victory" initiative, which has been held in Dagestan since 2022, aims to foster a sense of patriotism and remembrance among the people. Last year, the motor rally covered regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, and this year, it expanded to include participants from the Southern Federal District, reflecting its growing significance and reach.

Both events—the visit from the Dagestani delegation to Northern Esh-Sharkia and the conclusion of the "Banner of Victory" action—underscore the importance of international cooperation and the remembrance of historical sacrifices. These initiatives not only strengthen ties between regions but also honor the legacy of those who fought for their homeland.
