MAKHACHKALA, March 8 – The Republic of Dagestan recently celebrated International Women’s Day with heartfelt events honoring the women of the region for their invaluable contributions and enduring support. Festivities took place across various venues, including the Federal Penitentiary Service (UFSIN) of Russia, where Colonel Sergei Roldugin addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to female employees and their families.
"This wonderful spring holiday warms with the soul's warmth and special light feelings," said Colonel Roldugin, acknowledging the role of women as the foundation of family and community. He emphasized, "You embody tenderness, care, and kindness; your love inspires us to achieve great things."
On the same day, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the Chairman of the Government of Dagestan, extended his warm wishes to women throughout the region. "Dear Dagestani women! I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart on International Women’s Day! This spring holiday is always filled with gratitude for your kindness, patience, and hard work. Women have historically been treated with special respect and care in Dagestan."
Abdulmuslimov underscored the importance of women's contributions, noting, "Your support serves as the main support for men and inspires new achievements.” He particularly noted the resilience of women who serve as soldiers and support personnel, stating, "I want to express special gratitude to the women-soldiers who have chosen to defend the motherland as their noble goal."
One of the key events was the ceremony of awarding state honors on March 7, the eve of International Women’s Day. This ceremony was attended by esteemed officials, including Makhach Omarov, Head of the Administration of the Head and Government of Dagestan, and Kamil Davdiev, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Dagestan. Among those recognized were mothers and spouses of participants in military operations, healthcare professionals, teachers, and those involved in cultural initiatives.
Abdulmuslimov, during this ceremony, personally honored those women whose families have dedicated their lives to supporting the state’s military endeavors. The impact of women who sew and provide for military service members was also emphasized, as Abdulmuslimov praised Maisarat Bagautdinova’s efforts, who sewed over 800 sets of thermal underwear for troops.
