Daegu Development Corporation Boosts Water Industry At International Exhibition

The city aims to attract leading water companies and enhance local economic growth.

Daegu City Development Corporation and Daegu City jointly participated in the International Water Industry Exhibition, known as WATER KOREA 2025, held at Kintex in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, from March 19 to March 21, 2025. This annual exhibition, hosted by the Korea Water and Wastewater Association, serves as a platform for the water industry, uniting prominent water companies, government officials, universities, research institutes, and foreign buyers all in one venue. The goal of their participation was clear: to attract water-related enterprises to the National Water Industry Cluster located within the National Industrial Complex in Dalseong-gun, Daegu.

During this three-day event, Daegu City and the Development Corporation targeted approximately 210 water companies to promote the availability of industrial land within their National Water Industry Cluster. Through their collaborative efforts, they aimed to raise awareness of the business opportunities available and encourage investment in the region.

On March 20, a significant seminar was hosted by the Korea Water Technology Certification Institute, featuring around 100 attendees, including representatives from various water enterprises, academic institutions, and public organizations. During this seminar, Daegu City officials presented their water industry development policies and strategic support programs aimed at aiding water companies in their overseas expansion efforts. The local government’s proactive approach underscores the city’s commitment to fostering a robust water industry.

Currently, the Daegu National Industrial Complex Water Industry Cluster is home to 39 water companies boasting an impressive occupancy rate of 72%. The Development Corporation and Daegu City plan to continue promoting parts of this industrial complex actively, with plans to attract additional companies by May 2025.

Jeong Myeong-seop, the president of Daegu City Development Corporation, commented on the exhibition and the ongoing initiatives, saying, "We will continue to actively promote the acquisition of excellent water industry companies to revitalize the local economy." His remarks highlight the strategic importance of the water sector to Daegu’s economic growth and the clarity of their intentions moving forward.

The participation from approximately 100 people at the seminar highlights the interest in Daegu's support for the water industry. This joint acquisition activity is expected to gain momentum for attracting companies to the National Water Industry Cluster. Not only does this endeavor present an opportunity for Daegu to enhance its regional economic landscape, but it also aims to create jobs and stimulate growth within the area.

As Daegu City and Daegu City Development Corporation work diligently to cultivate new business relationships and promote their industrial offerings, they stand at the forefront of a vital industry that promises significant local and national benefits. Their strategic initiatives and resolute participation in major events like WATER KOREA 2025 signal a forward-thinking approach that emphasizes sustainability, economic vitality, and a robust future for the water industry in Daegu.
