Cyril Hanouna's TPMP Continues Online Following C8 Closure

The popular talk show transitions to various online platforms to maintain its audience engagement.

Cyril Hanouna's popular television show, "Touche pas à mon poste" (TPMP), has found new life online following the recent closure of French channel C8. The series, which officially ceased broadcasts on February 28, 2025, has transitioned to digital platforms, ensuring fans can continue to engage with the program and its vibrant host.

This enthusiasm marked the premiere of TPMP on various internet platforms including YouTube, Dailymotion, and internet box services. Hanouna declared the transition as not just necessary but an opportunity for creative freedom compared to the constraints of traditional broadcasting.

The closure of C8 came as the result of the regulatory authority Arcom’s decision not to renew the channel's frequency, primarily due to repeated violations which incurred 7.6 million euros in fines on account of Hanouna's controversial hosting style. With his ability to host politically charged discussions under scrutiny, the shift to online broadcasting appears to grant Hanouna and TPMP more latitude. He commented, "C'est sûr qu'on ne va pas faire de politique sur Fun Radio et sur W9, je ne vais pas inviter Eric Ciotti ou Laurent Wauquiez," underscoring his willingness to focus on entertainment instead of political discourse.

The once-beloved C8 found itself besieged by accusations of fostering poor media practices and censorship concerns from anchormen and public figures alike. Several right-wing officials have voiced their disapproval of the closure, framing the situation as a violation of free speech principles. This sentiment echoed Hanouna's fiery remarks as he distanced himself from accountability, stating, "l'arrêt de C8 n'était pas une décision de l'Arcom," with repercussions continuing to spark debate among viewers and media analysts.

Fans of TPMP, who numbered over three million during the show’s final moments on C8, now have various alternatives to participate. The show continues to air live from 6:20 PM to 9:15 PM, with Hanouna leading the discussions alongside his colleagues. Those with internet boxes can tune to channels corresponding to their providers, such as Canal+ at Canal 29, Free at Canal 31, SFR at Canal 29, and Orange at Canal 80. Alternatively, viewers can watch the show directly on platforms like YouTube and Dailymotion, which are set to stream the broadcast live.

With the announcement of his move to the M6 group - slated to take effect on September 1, 2025 - viewers are left pondering what the future holds for Hanouna. While the new M6 product aims for more structured entertainment sans political undertones, there remains uncertainty surrounding the bold and brazen style Hanouna is known for.

Notably, the ratings will soon be monitored through Médiamétrie, which will provide insights on the show’s performance following the significant shakeup. With the transition to internet-based broadcasting, Hanouna’s drive for audience engagement may either be boosted or challenged by the audience's ability to access the new format.

During his time on C8, Hanouna's TPMP was characterized by its controversial moments and outbursts, often leading to scrutiny and penalties from regulatory bodies. Yet, he remains undeterred, as he conveyed to Pascal Praud on CNews, reaffirming his commitment to creating engaging content, stating, "On est là, rien n'a changé:" the show must go on!

The media will undoubtedly keep close tabs on TPMP's adaptation to this new platform, and how it continues to navigate legal boundaries and engage with audiences. For now, fans can breathe easy, knowing the show—and their favorite host—remains accessible through the ever-evolving digital media space.
