CSIR Announces Junior Secretariat Assistant Positions For 2025

Candidates can apply for various positions across CSIR institutes, with application deadlines fast approaching.

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has announced exciting recruitment opportunities for the positions of Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) across its institutes, CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI) and CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR). These openings, officially released on February 14, 2025, urge candidates to step up and apply for roles pivotal to maintaining administrative efficiency within these organizations.

CSIR-CMERI has made known 16 vacancies spread across three categories: General (8), Finance & Accounts (4), and Stores & Purchase (4). All interested candidates must visit the official website at https://cmeri.res.in/ to complete their applications, which will remain open until March 16, 2025. Applicants should provide their educational qualifications, attach necessary documents, and pay the required application fee.

The eligibility criteria are straightforward yet specific. Candidates must have completed their intermediate education (10+2) with relevant stream qualifications, which could be Science, Commerce, or Arts. The requirement for typing speed is also notable: 35 words per minute for English and 30 for Hindi. The age limit for applicants ranges from 18 to 28 years, with stipulated relaxations based on government rules for different demographics.

Importantly, the application fee is set at ₹500 for candidates belonging to the Unreserved (UR) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories. Thankfully, exemptions are available for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), women, and ex-servicemen, ensuring broader access to these job opportunities.

The selection process for CSIR-CMERI includes two stages: the written examination and the typing proficiency test. The written exam comprises objective-type questions totaling 500 marks, with general awareness and mental ability sections included. Following this, only candidates who successfully achieve the required typing speed through the proficiency test will be eligible for final selection.

Shifting focus to CSIR-IITR, 10 positions are available across its categories: General (6), Finance & Accounts (2), and Stores & Purchase (2). Like CSIR-CMERI, the educational qualifications align closely with those outlined earlier. Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education and demonstrate commendable proficiency with computers and typing speeds of 35 w.p.m. for English or 30 w.p.m. for Hindi.

The application process is also aligned with CSIR-CMERI, with potential applicants urged to submit their applications online by March 19, 2025. Similar to prior openings, the selected candidates at CSIR-IITR will receive compensation consistent with Pay Level 2 Cell-1 of the Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission, amounting to approximately ₹35,600 per month.

Essentially, all candidates need to be attentive to application procedures, especially the payment of the application fee which for most candidates is ₹500, except for those who qualify for exemptions. Payments may only be made online, and methods like DD or postal orders are not accepted. Candidates must complete their registration online as applications submitted after the deadlines will not be considered.

For both recruitment drives, successful candidates will be provided with various allowances—including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, and transport allowance—as per government norms. The job is appealing not only due to the salary but also the security and benefits associated with working for the CSIR under government provisions.

Finally, these recruitment drives by CSIR present substantial opportunities for young aspirants aiming to establish their careers within India’s esteemed scientific research organizations. With the right qualifications and preparation, candidates can aim to secure one of these coveted positions, aligning their career paths with promising future endeavors.
