OMAHA, Neb. – Due to the threat of inclement weather and blizzard-like conditions, the Creighton Bluejays' athletic programs have announced the postponement of both the softball doubleheader and the women's tennis match scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
The Creighton softball team was set to host the Kansas City Roos for two games on March 19. To accommodate the adverse weather, the teams have rescheduled their contest to Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The first game will now begin at 3 p.m. at the Creighton Sports Complex.
The Bluejays' softball squad is eager to get back on the field and has announced they will still play this upcoming weekend, shifting their focus to a four-game series against the Seattle Redhawks. The series begins on Friday, March 21, with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and continues Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., followed by another match against St. Thomas on Monday, March 24, at 4 p.m. "The Bluejays are back in action this weekend as they step away from BIG EAST play to host Seattle for a four-game set," stated the Creighton softball program.
Meanwhile, the women's tennis team's matchup against Kansas City has also been postponed for similar weather-related concerns. A spokesperson from the program mentioned, "A make-up date has yet to be determined." The Creighton women's tennis team, currently standing at 9 wins and 6 losses and 0-2 within the BIG EAST conference, will take this time to regroup and prepare for their next match.
Creighton's women's tennis team will return to action against Marquette on March 28, 2025, with the match set to commence at 12:30 p.m. inside the Hanscom Tennis Center. This break will be important for the team as they look to improve their standing following their recent conference games.
Overall, the weather has played a significant role this week, impacting both programs and forcing necessary adjustments to their schedules. With the postponements now confirmed, teams will focus on their upcoming matches and the readiness of their athletes as the season progresses. Athletes are not only gearing up for their immediate upcoming opponents but also keeping close tabs on the ever-changing weather conditions, which seem to be affecting many sporting events across the region.
Both Creighton teams are determined to perform well as they move forward, and with spring firmly on the horizon, they are hopeful for more favorable conditions to come.
