A stunning evening unfolded as Sam Maguire and Rachel Good, enthusiastic stargazers from North Tyneside, got engaged under the mesmerizing display of the Northern Lights and the Perseid meteor shower at Northumberland National Park.
On August 12, during what they expected to be another enchanting stargazing event, the couple experienced one of the best aurora shows ever reported, as noted by Wil Cheung, the resident astronomer at the Twice Brewed Inn.
The backdrop of flickering shooting stars marked the special night when Sam dropped to one knee, proposing to Rachel against the breathtaking celestial display.
Rachel expressed her surprise, admitting, "I was in shock, I wasn't expecting it," as the couple celebrated their new engagement.
Sam, who had prepared for this moment, shared, "I had the ring ready for the night because we knew there was going to be a meteor shower," making the proposal even more special.
The couple, who met through the dating app Hinge two-and-a-half years ago, work as civil servants and are both excitedly planning their wedding.

“This one totally shocked me,” Sienna said, noting she hadn’t realized the combination of elements until she reviewed her images.
