A Community United: A Call to Action for the Homeless on the Costa del Sol
Published: 13 Feb 2025 | 9:30 AM
If you care - and we know you do - act now. The Costa del Sol is proving once again to be a place of heart, generosity, and unity. With February 20 fast approaching, this beautiful coast is uniting for those who are suffering. Many residents, who had previously enjoyed success, sunshine, and security, are now facing the harsh reality of homelessness.
Every day, hardworking families find themselves without any shelter due to rising rental costs and the shift to short-term rentals. Recently, two families with stable jobs lost their homes when their landlords decided to switch to tourist leases, leaving them stranded and forced to sleep in shop doorways and wash in café bathrooms.
The heartbreaking narratives of these families remind the community of the urgent need for action. This is why the Costa del Sol community is coming together. On February 20, residents will gather at La Scala Marbella aiming to raise €11,700 for Asociación Adintre, which is dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable members of society.
This initiative will fund the opening of showers at Asociación Adintre's shelter for the entire year, offering those experiencing homelessness the chance to maintain their dignity. For €99, attendees can be part of this unforgettable evening featuring delectable dishes prepared by the renowned Chef Jason and performances from talented local entertainers, all donating their time for the cause. Notably, €25 from each ticket sold will directly support the opening of shower facilities.
For those unable to attend, donations are encouraged, and local businesses are welcomed to contribute raffle or auction prizes to support the fundraising efforts. The sentiment is clear: no one should be forgotten or left behind.
Michel, one of the organizers, passionately states, "We will show those struggling they are not invisible, not forgotten, and never alone. Join us. Give what you can. Be part of something truly meaningful." This powerful call resonates throughout the community, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
The event promises to be transformative not just for those who will benefit from the funds raised, but also for the community as it reaffirms its commitment to care for one another. With numerous supporters already pledging their backing, organizers believe they can make this initiative impactful.
The Costa del Sol community stands united, eager to take action during this crisis. Michel exemplifies the shared spirit by expressing gratitude for the community’s willingness to join the cause: "A massive thank you. We proudly stand with you as part of this incredible, caring Costa del Sol community."
The initiative, titled Concept: SHOWERS, will take place on February 20 at La Scala Marbella, located at Urb. Real de Zaragoza, 62, 29604 Marbella, Malaga. Those interested can contact Tibbi at 662 563 415 to book their seats or tables or Michelle at 636 899 636 for donation inquiries.
Thanks to this community's caring nature, lives can be changed. This event is not just about raising funds; it is about showing compassion and demonstrating the strength of community. To donate, community members can use the Caixa Bank account ES41 2100 1621 9902 0050 2372, SWIFT: CAIXESBBXXX.
Mark your calendar and get involved because together, the Costa del Sol can make a substantial difference for its most vulnerable residents.
