Copenhagen Fashion Week Unveils Autumn/Winter 2025 Trends

Stylish attendees embrace winter textures, bold prints, and innovative accessories during the standout fashion event.

Copenhagen Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2025 just wrapped up, successfully presenting a unique blend of Scandinavian design and international flair. This year, fashion editors, buyers, and journalists from around the globe gathered to witness the latest trends, both on and off the catwalk. Notable moments ranged from MKDT Studio's serene show set inside the sun-drenched atrium of the Statens Museum for Kunst to the debut of the brand Stel held at the brutalist headquarters of architecture firm Bjarke Ingels.

Throughout the week, the streets were alive with fashion, as attendees embraced winter textures, including sumptuous suede coats and sleek mocha-mousse bomber jackets. Leopard print emerged as the go-to pattern, appearing not just on coats but on shoes and accessories as well. With frigid temperatures, the practicality of warm winter accessories like balaclavas and snoods became evident as everyone hopped from show to show.

Among the standout trends were various takes on fringe, bringing hints of Western flair to the otherwise urban event. From fringed jackets to tasseled bags, attendees had fun styling these elements across their looks. The enduring popularity of bag charms was also clear, with many adding personal touches to their outfits with oversized charms dangling from bags.

One attendee, Johanna Dooley, co-founder of the fashion rental platform Greens Are Good For You, shared her daily experiences at the event, emphasizing the people-watching as one of her favorite activities. "Copenhagen Fashion Week is where the BEST people-watching occurs. Everyone brings their unique, personal style to the table, which is what makes this fashion week stand out," she said. Throughout her week, she saw polka dots, hair accessories, and various other trends dominate the street style scene.

The day kicked off for Dooley at Remain, where attendees enjoyed bread served with creamed butter—a traditional breakfast staple during CPHFW—as they previewed stylish coats. Her fashion adventure continued at the MKDT Studio Show, showcasing sleek silhouettes and neutral color palettes synonymous with minimalist Scandinavian design. "I could people-watch all week long. My favorite part of CPHFW is tough to pick, but the people and street style are high on my list," she told us.

At Fillipa K's presentation, sharp tailoring met bold trouser shapes, showcasing the versatility of winter attire through the use of soft fabrics like corduroy and shearling. The final show of the day, Baum und Pferdgarten, closed the event on a high note, offering dresses adorned with bows, sequins, and ruffles, alongside classic denim looks—a staple of Scandinavian wardrobes.

Fashion enthusiasts buzzed about top trends spotted throughout the week. Designers and attendees alike gravitated toward polka dots, not just as prints, but also through accessories. The playful addition of bag charms harmonized beautifully with winter fashion, making those seemingly small details momentous. Johanna Dooley noted, "Whether it was colorful ponytail accessories or oversize charms with statement bags, it was clear these fun details were having a big moment."

Some of the street-style highlights included:

  • Suede: Luxurious and warm, suede textures dominated winter stylings, whether matched with skirts or as part of standout coats.
  • Dark-Chocolate Bomber: A staple alternative to puffy winter coats, sleek leather bombers offered both warmth and style, perfect for crisp days.
  • Fringe: Reflecting Western influence, fringed jackets and accessories harmonized with knee-high leather boots and warm wool skirts.
  • Leopard Print: This season's breakout trend appeared everywhere, offering options from classic coats to shoes.
  • Knit Accessories: Balaclavas, snoods, and scarves became essentials to ward off winter chills.

Day after day of presentations and shows turned the mundane act of getting dressed each morning at CPHFW transformative, with attendees expressing their individuality through unique combinations and clever accessories. Notably, bonnets have also seen resurgence on the fashion scene, as derived from past trends like Miu Miu’s autumn/winter 2021 collection. Vogue Business’s Lucy Maguire explained, “I tend to wear a lot of black or dark colours, so I try to add colourful accessories like the red bonnet to make my outfits more interesting.”

These bonnets, tying under the chin and crafted of soft wool, were spotted throughout the week, confirming their position as both stylish and functional. Ruth Alice Rands of Herd, who partnered with Straw London for their unique bonnets, noted, “Our bonnet has been hugely popular. It’s winter’s wearable equivalent of a red lip.” Fashion week attendees are clearly finding refreshment and vibrancy amid the wintry backdrop, bringing life and excitement to their winter wardrobes.

With each designer and brand making their mark, Copenhagen Fashion Week continues to solidify itself as the hub for Scandinavian style, offering inspiration and trends for the upcoming season as the fashion world turns its eye toward the creations blooming from this vibrant city.
