Condor Resumes Flights And Expands Travel Options Across Germany

The airline collaborates with Deutsche Bahn to enhance seamless travel to Frankfurt and beyond, prioritizing sustainability.

Condor Airlines has recently expanded its operations by resuming flights from Frankfurt to key German cities, Berlin and Hamburg, while simultaneously enhancing its partnership with Deutsche Bahn (DB). This development aims to offer passengers more seamless travel connections and promote environmental sustainability within the aviation industry.

On March 20, 2025, Condor announced the expansion of its cooperation with DB, allowing passengers booking long-haul flights to select customized train connections from 21 cities across Germany. This strategic partnership not only simplifies the booking process for combined train and flight tickets but also includes benefits such as free seat reservations, coordinated transfers, and complimentary access to DB lounge facilities for Condor's Business Class travelers.

As travel options grow, Condor’s commitment to greener travel solutions becomes noteworthy. All DB long-distance services are powered by 100% green electricity, aligning with Condor's own environmental goals. Key stations connected to Frankfurt include major cities like Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, and Düsseldorf. Moreover, the new travel options will include a vital link for travelers heading from Dresden to Berlin Brandenburg Airport for flights to Dubai, broadening the airline's appeal.

In a notable return to the domestic travel market, Condor has marked its re-emergence with the introduction of City connections. The first scheduled flights from Frankfurt to Berlin and Hamburg took off on March 1, 2025. The flight from Frankfurt to Berlin departed at 10:30 AM under flight number DE409, while the journey to Hamburg (flight DE4179) followed a quarter-hour later.

From March 2, Condor has committed to operating these routes twice daily, in both morning and evening slots, catering to both business and leisure travelers. This move represents a significant evolution in Condor’s portfolio, reflecting its commitment to meet the travel demands of its customer base. Peter Gerber, CEO of Condor, acknowledged this shift, stating, "Mit unseren City-Verbindungen passen wir unseren Flugplan an die Bedürfnisse unserer Gäste an" (With our City connections, we are adapting our flight schedule to meet the needs of our guests).

To ensure optimal efficiency in fuel consumption and overall performance, Condor has invested in modern aircraft models, specifically the Airbus A320neo and A321neo. These aircrafts are equipped with cutting-edge engines from Pratt & Whitney, allowing them to consume 20% less fuel compared to their predecessors. Utilizing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) considerably enhances their environmental sustainability.

According to Condor, these advancements mean that the new aircraft can reduce CO2 emissions by 20% and operate at a noise level that is 50% quieter than older models. Furthermore, the calculated kerosene consumption per passenger on an A320neo is remarkably efficient, amounting to just 1.9 liters per 100 kilometers traveled.

This ambitious expansion and commitment to sustainability are timely. As global attention increasingly shifts to responsible travel, Condor aims to position itself as a leader in both domestic and international travel solutions. The latest developments underscore the company's adaptability, resilience, and proactive approach to serving customers while being mindful of environmental impacts.
