With heavy hearts, the communities of Pearland, TX, and Slinger, WI, mourn the loss of two beloved individuals, Mary Watson and Michael Gerhard Simon, whose lives were rich with love and community spirit.
Mary Watson, who passed away on December 12, 2024, at the age of 75, was known for her kindness and generosity. Born on August 16, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late William and Jeanette Watson. She spent the last 15 years of her life at Autumn Oaks in Slinger, where she became a staple, loved deeply by the many friends she made during her time there.
Reported by Legacy, Mary was described as “a woman of love, compassion, humor, and kindness.” Her uplifting spirit was evident to all, with those around her noting how she could turn any sour moment around with laughter. Her affinity for Elvis Presley was well-known, as was her passion for jewelry, often seeking out new pieces to add to her collection during shopping trips.
Her memorial service will take place on December 30, 2024, at Autumn Oaks, with visitation beginning at 1 PM, followed by the service at 2 PM. Mary will be laid to rest next to her mother at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
Meanwhile, the community of Pearland remembers Michael Gerhard Simon, who passed away on December 26, 2024. Michael was not only the husband of his wife for 27 years but also the proud father of five children. His family described him as the heart and soul of their household, instilling values of love and support throughout his life.
Described as someone who was dedicated to his work and family, Michael enjoyed spending his weekends perfecting his golf swing and engaging friends with spirited debates about Star Trek and Marvel. Those who knew him cherished the simple pleasures he brought to gatherings, such as sharing gumbo or enjoying ice cream together.
Logan Simon, one of Michael's sons, has started fundraising efforts to help cover the costs of memorial and medical expenses, already receiving significant support from the community. He hopes to honor Michael's memory through this initiative as they navigate this difficult time.
Both Mary and Michael have left indelible marks on the hearts of those who knew them, and their memories will live on through the countless stories and laughter shared among family and friends. They will be deeply missed, but as their loved ones gather to celebrate their lives, it is clear they both embodied the spirit of generosity and love.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Mary Watson and Michael Gerhard Simon during this difficult time. May their memories be blessings to all who knew them.
