Community Mourns Recent Deaths And Celebrates Lives

Tributes pour in for beloved local figures who shaped their communities.

Recent weeks have been marked by the passing of several beloved community members, whose lives touched many through their kindness, dedication, and love for family. These tributes encapsulate the rich lives lived by Christine Moss, Eileen McBarron, Veronica McManus, Alice Mcinnis, Brenda Galley, and Gheorghe Lozneanu.

Christine Jennifer Moss (née Matthews) passed away on March 1, 2025, after a short illness at Craigavon Area Hospital. She was remembered as a devoted wife to Philip, and the cherished mother of Christopher, Bradley, and Hannah. Survived by her mother, sisters, and brothers, Christine's family gathered for her funeral service on March 4 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, followed by burial at Banbridge New Cemetery. Her family encouraged donations to Action Cancer, reflecting her helping spirit. “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, seen, heard but always near, still loved, still missed and held so dear,” conveyed her memory poignantly.

Eileen McBarron (née Bannon) from Teemore, County Fermanagh, also departed on March 1, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of James and proud mother of Stephen, Brendan, and Julie-Anne, along with being a devoted grandmother. Eileen’s funeral mass is set for March 4 at St. Mary’s Church, followed by burial at the adjoining cemetery. Her family noted, “Eileen will be sadly missed by her sorrowing husband, sons, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandchildren […] and her large circle of friends,” emphasizing the warmth she brought to those around her.

On March 2, Veronica Jane McManus, aged 250 Swanlinbar Road, Derrylester, passed away. Her family reflects on her relationship with partner Brian and her son Tyler, highlighting the bonds she cherished. Funeral arrangements are set with visitation at her residence. Veronica was mourned not only by those closest to her but by the wider community who appreciated her warmth and friendship.

Alice Hathaway Mcinnis, from Hendersonville, North Carolina, died on March 2, her legacy woven through her rich life stories. Born on May 30, 1927, Alice was remembered for her strong work ethic, community involvement, and dedication to family. Alice graduated nursing school at age 49 with top honors and spent many years as a beloved nurse. Although her life faced challenges, including accidents, she never lost her devotion to community service, gardening, or family life. Her service will be held at West Bethel Union Church. Her stories and influence will continue to be shared by her children and grandchildren.

Brenda Shirlene Galley passed away on February 28, 2025, at 68, with family ties deeply rooted through her marriage to Eugene Galley for nearly 50 years. A registered nurse, she dedicated her life to caring for others and her family. Brenda's loving nature was felt by her children and grandchildren, all of whom gathered for her graveside services on March 5. Brenda’s impact will remain vivid among those she nurtured and influenced.

Gheorghe Lozneanu, born May 11, 1930, passed away, leaving behind his devoted wife and large family. The prominent figure among his seven children and many grandchildren, he will be remembered for his faith and love. His funeral service on March 6 will be attended by family and friends, showcasing the touch he had on their lives. “Rest in peace, dear Father. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Until we meet again,” his children expressed, reflecting the strong values he instilled.

Each of these individuals leaves behind grieving families and friends, mourning their deaths but also celebrating the lives they led.
