Community Mourns Loss Of Pauline Henry And Kalin Burcham

Two beloved figures from Cairo and Corinth remember their legacies of love and family.

In the small towns of Cairo and Corinth, Mississippi, two beloved community members have recently passed away, leaving behind legacies of love, family, and cherished memories. Pauline Lotese Sims Henry, aged 91, and Kalin Burcham, aged 41, were both known for their warmth and the impact they had on those around them.

Pauline Henry, who died peacefully at her home on April 12, 2025, was born on January 30, 1934, in Cairo to John Reynolds Sims and Geneva Ophelia Sims. A graduate of Holcut High School and Northeast Mississippi Junior College, Pauline dedicated her life to her family and community. On June 6, 1959, she married Edward Neal Henry, who preceded her in death after 37 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children: Jana Williams, Edward N. Henry II, and Danna Harris.

Pauline was well-known for her love of gardening and word puzzles, hobbies that allowed her to connect with nature and challenge her mind. Her faith was also a cornerstone of her life, as she was an active member of Clausel Hill Independent Methodist Church. In a statement, the church community expressed their sorrow, noting, "Pauline was a pillar of our congregation, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word." Such sentiments reflect the deep affection many felt for her.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Clausel Hill Independent Methodist Church, with Brother Gary Redd officiating. The church is located at 18 County Road 1475 in Booneville, Mississippi. Visitation will precede the service from 1-3 p.m. at the same location. Pauline will be laid to rest in the Clausel Hill Cemetery, surrounded by the beauty she loved so much.

Pauline is survived by her three children, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Josephine Louise Sims, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Clausel Hill Independent Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.

In a separate but equally heartfelt announcement, the family of Kalin Burcham shared the news of his passing on April 15, 2025. Kalin, who was born on November 10, 1983, in Corinth, was known for his vibrant spirit and dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband to Jacy Taylor Burcham and a proud father to his son, Maddox Franks Burcham.

Kalin's life was filled with joy, laughter, and a passion for cooking, music, and baseball. He especially loved coaching his son’s baseball team and was known for his culinary skills that brought family and friends together. Friends describe him as having an incredible sense of humor and an extensive knowledge of trivia, making every gathering lively and fun. "Kalin was the kind of person who could light up a room and make anyone feel welcome," said a close friend, reflecting the warmth he brought to those around him.

A private memorial service for Kalin is planned, with the Rev. Waring Porter and Gregg Parker officiating. The family invites friends to celebrate Kalin's life on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Cafe' Mike's in Corinth. This gathering will provide an opportunity for loved ones to share stories and memories, honoring the impact Kalin had on their lives.

Kalin is survived by not only his wife and son but also his parents, Terri and Marty Austin, Ricky and Wanda Burcham, his mother-in-law, Sheila Taylor Russell, and a host of other family members including siblings and cousins. He was preceded in death by several grandparents and his father-in-law, Don Taylor. The family has requested that memorial contributions in Kalin's honor be made to the Corinth-Alcorn Animal Shelter via PayPal or Venmo, as a testament to his love for animals.

As both Pauline and Kalin's families navigate this time of grief, the communities of Cairo and Corinth are coming together to support them. The loss of such vibrant individuals is deeply felt, and their legacies will continue to inspire those who knew them. Both families have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from friends and neighbors during this difficult time.

In remembrance of Pauline and Kalin, the communities will hold ceremonies to honor their lives, celebrating the joy and kindness they brought to the world. As the families prepare for their respective services, they invite all who knew Pauline and Kalin to join in honoring their memories and reflecting on the love they shared with so many.

In these moments of loss, it is essential to remember the joy and love that Pauline and Kalin brought to their communities. Their lives, though different in many ways, were united by the love of family and the impact they had on their friends and neighbors.
