He married Shannon (Hoelscher) Spencer 36 years ago and is survived by his daughter Chloe and son-in-law Douglas Tascoff, son Samuel Spencer, and three grandchildren. Shawn was known for his optimism and humor, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. He actively participated in his children’s lives, coaching their soccer and baseball teams, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. A graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School in 1983, Shawn earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University in 1987. His career at State Farm Insurance spanned 31 years, earning him recognition for “100 Acts of Good” in 2020. A memorial service will be held on April 12, 2025, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, with calling hours on April 11.
In Pontiac, Larry Myers, 78, passed away on March 16, 2025. Born to James and Verna (Fosdick) Myers, Larry was known for his passion for sports, which led him to a successful career as a Physical Education teacher and coach. He was inducted into the PTHS Athletics Hall of Fame at Pontiac Township High School, where he dedicated 33 years to shaping young athletes. Larry earned his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Physical Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and a master’s degree from Illinois State University. He married Judith on July 6, 1968, and she predeceased him in 2005. Larry is survived by his children, Michelle (Casey) Jones and Casey (Rachael) Myers, as well as his grandson Jaxson Jones. A graveside service will take place on April 11, 2025, at South Side Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at Bob and Ringo's Grill and Smokehouse.
