Community Course Registrations Now Open For Residents

Explore new skills with courses ranging from beekeeping to gardening and Qigong.

School and community course registrations have officially opened, providing residents various opportunities to learn new skills and engage with their communities. From beekeeping to Qigong classes and community gardening, there are plenty of options for people of all ages to get involved.

At the Kiekeberg museum, aspiring beekeepers can enroll in their "Imkerei Grundkurs" (Beekeeping Basic Course), which runs from March to November. Participants will attend six sessions on Saturdays: March 15, April 26, May 10, June 14, July 12, and November 22, all from 10:30 AM to 4 PM. The course covers everything from the basic principles of beekeeping to honey harvesting and winter management techniques. The total cost for the course is 240 euros, which includes museum admission. Registrations are due by March 5 at kiekeberg-museum.de/kurse-der-museumsakademie.

"Die Kurskosten liegen bei insgesamt 240 Euro, inklusive Museumseintritt," says the Kiekeberg museum, emphasizing the value of the course.

Moving to Altenthann, residents can also partake in "Qigong auf bayrisch" (Qigong Bavarian Style) led by Karl Schwanner at the DJK Sportgaststätte on March 15 starting at 10 AM. Attendees can still register via email. Qigong is one of the five well-known healing methods used within traditional Chinese medicine, focused on maintaining spinal health and overall well-being.

"Qigong ist eine der fünf bekannten Heilmethoden der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin," shares Schwanner, highlighting the significant health benefits participants can experience.

Finally, the Solidargemeinschaft Starnberger Land e.V. is inviting garden enthusiasts to register for this year's "Sonnenäcker" (Sun Fields) project, which continues until March 23. Under the slogan "Selber ackern, selber ernten" (Farm yourself, harvest yourself), individuals can cultivate their own vegetables, herbs, and flowers at ten locations across the Starnberg district from May to October.

This project emphasizes sustainability, community, and reconnecting with nature. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting out, the organization welcomes everyone. They also provide expert support throughout the growing season to assist participants.

"Ob Anfänger oder erfahrene Hobbygärtner, jeder ist willkommen," the Solidargemeinschaft Starnberger Land states, encouraging wide participation.

With numerous options available, it's the perfect time for community members to step up and engage. Don't miss out on these opportunities—register for one of the courses or programs today!
