Comic Family Drama 'Larguées' Set For France 2 Broadcast

The film showcases reconciliation and adventure amid the stunning backdrop of Réunion Island.

As France 2 gets ready to broadcast the comedy film Larguées on March 23, 2025, audiences can look forward to an engaging and heartwarming tale about family, love, and new beginnings. The film, which originally hit theaters in 2018, features a star-studded cast including renowned actors Miou-Miou, Camille Cottin, and Camille Chamoux.

Directed by Eloïse Lang, Larguées tells the story of two sisters, Alice and Rose, who embark on a comical journey to lift their mother Françoise’s spirits after their father leaves her for a younger partner. Strikingly different in personalities, Alice is responsible and organized, while Rose is a free-spirited rebel. Yet, they bond over their shared goal of making their mother feel loved and supported.

The film takes its inspiration from the Danish comedy All Inclusive, directed by Hella Joof, marking a significant entry into Lang's repertoire. She bravely steps into the challenge of remaking a successful film, motivated by her own experiences as one of three sisters.

In a press release, Lang explained, “I have two sisters. We are very different but extremely close to our mother. When I was forming the screenplay, one of the adages was: ‘Write what you know’” (reported by Télé Star). Her personal life deeply influenced the narrative, exploring themes of aging, familial roles, and the quest for individuality within family dynamics.

Larguées won the Prix du Public at the festival du film de comédie de l'Alpe d'Huez, showcasing its ability to resonate with audiences and critics alike. When asked about the filming location, Lang expressed her need for an exotic backdrop that would add richness to the story. Initially considering the Caribbean, producers convinced her of the unique beauty of Réunion Island, known for its volcanic landscape, natural beauty, and authenticity.

“Réunion is an atypical paradise. It’s a very cinematic, welcoming, and idyllic island. But not only that… it also has something hostile and mysterious. Its volcano is always active, and it’s surrounded by sharks. I loved that its tourism isn’t mass tourism; the places are very authentic,” Lang reflected, emphasizing the allure of shooting in such a vibrant, yet rugged, locale (reported by Télé Star).

Over the course of the film, viewers witness Alice and Rose navigating their mission in Réunion, specifically at stunning sites like the Piton de la Fournaise, while encountering humorous and heartfelt moments along the way. The sisters' journey unfolds as they learn valuable life lessons about family, love, and resilience against the backdrop of stunning landscapes.

In today's fast-paced world, Larguées offers a moment of reflection about the importance of family connections and support, cementing why audiences fell in love with it back in 2018 and why it continues to resonate today.
