University women's basketball is heating up as teams across the nation prepare for pivotal matchups this week, especially for the University of Missouri and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). Both teams aim to build momentum amid their SEC and Gulf South Conference (GSC) schedules, respectively.

Missouri enters this game with a record of 11-6 and is currently 0-2 within the Southeastern Conference (SEC) after suffering defeat against No. 19 Alabama. Missouri's front line shows promise, as graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi led the team with nine points during the loss, marking her first time topping the scoring charts this season. Meanwhile, senior guard Nyah Wilson contributed nine points off the bench, indicating the depth of the Tigers’ roster.

Junior guard Ashton Judd has also been stepping up with average stats of 13.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals over the last nine games, improving significantly from her earlier season averages.

The Chargers boast an impressive overall record of 11-3, with their GSC record sitting at 6-2, which places them third in the league standings. UAH's performance has been buoyed by junior Lili Wilken, who leads the team with 14.3 points per game—tied for fourth place overall within the conference. She also shares the team's assist lead, totaling 51 this season, and ranks second on the squad with 87 rebounds.

Alexis Woods has emerged as another key player, scoring double digits 10 times over the past eleven games. With 10.8 points per game shooting at 57.9% from the field, her contributions have been invaluable. The Chargers excel as they rank highly with their three-point shooting, hitting 35.3% from behind the arc, placing second within the GSC.

Montrevallo, whom the Chargers will face on Thursday, enters this week with 5-7 overall and 3-4 metrics for GSC competition following their recent 88-69 loss to Auburn Montgomery, leading to their current standings. The Falcons average 64.4 points per game, guided by Aubrey Sorrels, who averages 11.6 points per contest.

Auburn Montgomery is also starting the week with similar records at 5-7 overall and 3-4 within GSC play, coming off their victory over Montevallo. Their standout player, Allasha Dudley, leads the Warhawks, averaging 19.2 points per game.
