CNU 2025 Offers Over 3,000 Vacancies Across Brazil

The new national competition focuses on inclusivity and efficiency in public service recruitment.

The Ministry of Management and Innovation (MGI) recently unveiled significant details regarding the 2025 edition of the Concurso Nacional Unificado (CNU), also known as the "National Unified Public Competition." In a press conference held on April 28, 2025, Minister Esther Dweck announced that the upcoming CNU will provide a total of 3,352 vacancies across 35 different government bodies.

Among the available positions, 2,180 are immediate vacancies, while an additional 1,172 will be reserved for future appointments. This year’s competition will focus heavily on positions requiring medium-level qualifications, offering 2,844 vacancies, alongside 508 for higher-level professionals. The CNU 2025 marks a notable expansion from its predecessor, featuring nine thematic blocks, which is an increase of one block compared to the previous edition.

"The CNU is designed to streamline the recruitment process for public servants, allowing candidates to apply for various careers within the same thematic block, thus optimizing their application efforts," explained Minister Dweck during the conference.

The publication of the official notice and the opening of registrations are scheduled for July 2025. Candidates will take the objective test on October 5, 2025, followed by a discursive test for those who qualify on December 7, 2025. Results are expected to be released in February 2026.

In terms of geographical distribution, the majority of vacancies will be located in Brasília, the capital city, but there are also regional opportunities available. Specifically, 315 vacancies will be available in Rio de Janeiro, 65 in São Paulo, 66 in Pará, and 20 in Pernambuco. This regional focus aims to enhance job accessibility across various states.

Minister Dweck highlighted the importance of the CNU in addressing workforce needs within the federal government, stating, "We want to transform the CNU into a permanent public policy, ensuring that we can regularly recruit qualified personnel to meet governmental demands." This sentiment underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining a robust public service.

The 2025 CNU will also introduce a new test format, separating the objective and discursive assessments to allow for a more comprehensive evaluation of candidates. "We wanted to extend the discursive test and increase the number of questions in the objective test. In our view, this will aid in selecting the best candidates," Dweck noted.

In addition to the immediate vacancies, the MGI has requested the release of 77 additional positions from the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI). These include 9 vacancies for Administrative Analysts, 6 for Specialists in Supplementary Health Regulation, and 42 for Administrative Technicians. However, only the position of Technician in Supplementary Health Regulation will be included in the CNU.

As part of the CNU's ongoing evolution, the organizing bank for the 2025 competition will be selected by the end of June 2025. This bank will oversee the application of tests across more than 200 cities nationwide, a significant improvement from previous competitions that were primarily held in state capitals and Brasília.

The first edition of the CNU, which took place in 2024, offered over 6,000 vacancies, demonstrating the government's commitment to expanding public service opportunities. According to Dweck, the CNU format has proven effective and is set to continue, with plans to regularly hold these competitions to meet the staffing needs of federal agencies.

"We are committed to providing resources such as study guides and exclusive tutoring to help candidates succeed in the upcoming tests," Dweck added. The government aims to ensure that all applicants have access to the necessary tools for effective preparation.
