CM Punk Finally Achieves WrestleMania Main Event Dream

Excitement builds as Punk, Reigns, and Rollins prepare for epic showdown in Las Vegas

It’s been over a decade in the making, but the prophecy is finally fulfilled: CM Punk is officially a WrestleMania main eventer. On Friday’s hectic episode of WWE SmackDown in London, WWE dropped a seismic announcement that reshaped the road to WrestleMania 41. In a blockbuster main event contract signing, it was confirmed that CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins will headline one night of this year’s WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. The moment that Punk and his fans have been waiting for since 2011 has finally arrived, and the London crowd loved every second of it.

The segment kicked off with Reigns entering the ring, demanding to be acknowledged and soaking in thunderous “Roman, Roman Reigns” chants as he entered the ring with that signature confidence. “I came out for two things,” Reigns declared. “To be acknowledged and to sign the WrestleMania 41 contract.” Rollins followed in what might be his most normal-looking suit ever, all fired up and taunting Reigns for trying to get out of there quickly, reminding him of their long-standing history. “We accomplished our mission,” Seth said, referring to their shared Shield legacy. But Reigns wasn’t having the sentimental spin. “We? Our mission? We died a long time ago. You’ve been here, but I’ve done all the work,” he fired back.

That prompted Rollins to drop the bombshell: “That’s why I had to screw you. And your biggest mistake? Letting the snake, CM Punk, into the garden.” He added, “You could have cut his head off, instead you shook his hand. Now I have to do what I always do—clean up your mess.” Cue Punk's entry into the fray, taking his sweet time reviewing the paperwork, testing the patience of everyone—especially Reigns. That’s when Paul Heyman dropped the night’s biggest line: “I know what you’re looking for, and it’s in there. You’re closing the show at WrestleMania.” The roof nearly blew off The O2 Arena, while Rollins immediately protested, fuming over Punk being gifted a WrestleMania main event, screaming that Punk didn't deserve it.

Punk kept his cool, thanking the fans who stuck with him all these years, through the highs, the lows, and the long absence from WWE, as they basked in the glory of that long-owed favor due to Punk from Heyman finally being delivered. Just one thing, though. Punk ended the show with a cliffhanger: "Thank you, Roman. But that's not the favor I'm owed." WrestleMania 41 streams on Peacock on April 19 and April 20. CM Punk will main event the show. Stay tuned to Collider for more.

WWE SmackDown on March 28, 2025, featured CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins signing the contract for their WWE WrestleMania 41 Triple Threat Match. The announcement was made as all three men signed the contract for their WrestleMania showdown. Reigns entered the ring first, getting acknowledgement from the crowd in London, who also serenaded him with "Roman, Roman Reigns" chants. Reigns said he came out for two things: to be acknowledged and to sign the WrestleMania 41 contract.

Rollins was next out, wondering why Roman was so quick to leave, because they had a lot of history in the building. Through it all, Seth said they accomplished their mission. "We? You keep saying we. Our mission? We died a long time ago. You've been here, but I've done all the work," stated Roman. Seth said that Roman's mindset is why he had to screw him, and his biggest mistake was letting the snake CM Punk into the garden. "You could have cut his head off, instead you shook his hand. Now, I'm left to do what I always do, clean up your mess...again." Punk was last to enter, saying he was there to chew bubble gum and sign a contract, and he was all out of bubble gum.

Punk took his time looking over the contract, much to the dismay of Reigns. Paul Heyman stated, "I know what you're looking for, and it's in there. You're closing the show at WrestleMania." Rollins was upset that Punk was going to be a WrestleMania main eventer, saying he didn't deserve it. Punk thanked the fans who stuck with him. Reigns said that Punk shouldn't be thanking the fans, he should be thanking him. Punk thanked Reigns, but closed by saying, "That's not the favor that I'm owed."

The contract signing for what was dubbed the biggest Triple Threat Match in WrestleMania history by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis closed the show in London Friday night. Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins both signed the contract with no hesitation, but when Punk came down to the ring, he immediately began to look over each page with a fine-tooth comb. After a few moments, Paul Heyman took a knee by Punk's side. The Wiseman to the Tribal Chief told Punk that he knew what he was looking for and assured him that the clause he coveted was on page five. With tears in his eyes, Heyman told Punk that for the first time in his career, he'd be closing the show at WrestleMania 41 next month in Las Vegas.

Upon hearing that his boyhood dream would finally come true, Punk began to shed tears of his own. Seth Rollins was furious, and Roman Reigns began to laugh as the crowd inside The O2 erupted in thunderous applause. The Tribal Chief said one man's dream is another man's favor, alluding to Reigns and Punk now being square for the 'Best in the World' joining Team Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames in November. Reigns demanded a thank you from Punk for putting him in the main event. Punk rather surprisingly got down on one knee and sincerely thanked The OTC for the opportunity. Roman's ear-to-ear grin would disappear when Punk informed him that main eventing WrestleMania 41 was NOT the favor he asked of Paul Heyman.

It’s currently unclear if Punk, Reigns, and Rollins will main event night one or night two of WrestleMania. It was simply stated that they would be closing the show. The Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena is set to main-event the second night of WWE WrestleMania 41. As fans gear up for WrestleMania 41, the anticipation is palpable. With Punk finally achieving his long-awaited dream, the stakes are higher than ever as he prepares to face Reigns and Rollins in what promises to be an unforgettable showdown.
