Cities Prepare For 80th Anniversary Of Victory Day

Rubtsovsk and Ulan-Ude plan extensive celebrations to honor war heroes

As the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War approaches, cities across Russia are ramping up preparations for this significant commemoration. Notably, the cities of Rubtsovsk and Ulan-Ude are set to host a series of events that honor the sacrifices made during the war while fostering community spirit and remembrance.

In Rubtsovsk, a meeting of the organizing committee was held, led by the city's head, Dmitry Feldman. He detailed the extensive planning underway for the celebrations. "Active work is underway in all directions: from the organization of festive events, festive decoration of streets to landscaping, maintaining order and ensuring safety," he shared on his social media page.

Feldman noted that the preparation of the festive program has been practically completed, with a rich array of activities planned for May 9, 2025. This includes a heartfelt orchestral tribute to veterans, a running event, a cycling race, and the city-wide action titled "Flowers to the Obelisk." These events aim to bring the community together in reflection and celebration.

One highlight of the Rubtsovsk celebrations is the return of the beloved "Immortal Regiment" march, which will take place in-person for the first time since 2019. Feldman emphasized that safety will be a top priority during this event, with additional security measures being implemented to ensure the well-being of all participants. "Details on how to participate will be provided later," he added.

In addition to the march, a festive concert will take place on Lenin Square, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display in the evening. Feldman encouraged residents to stay tuned for updates on the events, promising that many important details will be shared as the date approaches.

Meanwhile, in Ulan-Ude, a comprehensive program has been prepared to span several days, inviting residents and visitors to engage in various performances, excursions, and rallies. The festivities kick off on April 30, 2025, with the festival of veteran collectives titled "In Memory of the Great Victory!" scheduled at 12:00 at the KDC "Rassvet." This event aims to honor the contributions of veterans and celebrate their legacy.

On May 6, the city will host the opening of an exhibition called "Ulan-Ude - City of Labor Valor," part of the project "Through the Years of Victory," at the Museum of the History of the City of Ulan-Ude. This will be followed by a festive concert program titled "Victory and Happy May!" at 14:00 and another concert at 15:00, both taking place at the DK named after A.P. Vaganova.

The day will conclude with the "Unfading Echo of War" concert at the KDC "Rassvet." Each event is designed to engage the community and reflect on the significance of the victory.

May 8 will feature a solemn rally titled "Salute of Victory" at 14:00, where wreaths and flowers will be laid at the Victory Memorial and the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal Rokossovsky K.K. This act of remembrance is crucial in honoring those who fought bravely during the war.

The festivities peak on May 9, with a theatrical concert program titled "So the War Began..." at the DK "Zabaykalsky." Additionally, the "Poetic Autobus" action will take place, allowing residents to reflect on the journey of victory through poetry as they travel along designated routes.

Other events on this day include a retro performance titled "Victory without Shots" at the Art Space "Ruins," and a landscape historical animation dedicated to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Guards Junior Lieutenant Sergei Nikolaevich Oreshkov. The program titled "Victory Lives in Generations" will also unfold across various parks throughout the city, ensuring that the spirit of victory is celebrated widely.
