Cities Prepare Festive Celebrations For Victory Day

Fireworks, parades, and cultural events honor heroes of World War II

As the 80th anniversary of Victory Day approaches, cities across Russia are gearing up for celebrations that honor the sacrifices made during World War II. Festivities will include fireworks displays, parades, and various cultural events, bringing communities together to remember and celebrate the heroes of the past.

In Tolyatti, a festive fireworks display is scheduled for May 9, 2025, at 22:00. The fireworks will light up the sky from two locations: in the Avtozavodsky district, they will be launched from the Park complex of the history of technology named after K.G. Sakharov, located at Yuzhnoye Shosse, 137. Meanwhile, in the Komsomolsk district, spectators can enjoy the show from the square of the Rusich center in the Shlyuzovoy microdistrict (Nosova St., 10). This colorful spectacle is expected to unite generations in remembrance of the great past.

To accommodate viewers, additional public transport routes will be organized. In the Avtozavodsky district, buses numbered 16в, 36в, 72в, and 21в will depart from the Medsanchast stop (Yuzhnoye Shosse) at 22:30. Trolleybuses #13 and #14 will also provide service from the Uchebny Center stop at intervals of five minutes post 22:30. In the Komsomolsk district, bus routes #40 and #42 will ensure access to the Rusich DC, departing from the Betonnaya St. stop at 22:15 and from School 12 at 22:12 respectively.

Further east in Novosibirsk, the program for Victory Day will conclude with a fireworks display at 21:50 on Lenin Square and at the Monument of Glory. An artillery salute will follow at 22:00 on the Mikhailovskaya embankment, as reported by the press service of the Novosibirsk region government. The governor, Andrey Travnikov, emphasized the importance of honoring veterans and participants of the Special Military Operation (SMO) during this significant celebration.

On the same day, a traditional military parade will take place at 10:00 on Lenin Square, showcasing the troops of the Novosibirsk garrison. This year, the parade will feature a historical component, occurring once every five years, with the passage of standard-bearers carrying the standards of the Great Patriotic War's fronts. The mechanized column will consist of 36 units of military equipment, including the iconic T-34 tank, which will lead the procession. For the first time, modern combat vehicles will also be included, reflecting the evolution of military technology.

After the parade, students from the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command Order of Zhukov School will present demonstration performances of military drills with weapons. Following this, the “Immortal Regiment” procession will take place, allowing citizens to honor their ancestors who fought in the war.

In Ekaterinburg, the celebrations have taken a different turn. Initially, a fireworks display was announced but was later canceled due to safety concerns. Instead, guests at the local shopping center will be treated to traditional soldier's porridge at the main entrance at 13:00 on Victory Day. From 14:00 to 15:30, a concert by the Ensemble of Song and Dance of the Zheleznodorozhny troops of the Ministry of Defense will entertain attendees with the performance titled "These Days Will Not Fade Away!". Following that, the Vdokhnovenie collective will perform a dance concert titled "And Everything About That Spring" until 17:00.

Despite the cancellation of the fireworks, the salute will still occur, but will only be visible near the city pond from 22:00 to 22:30. During this time, artillery guns will fire volleys, creating a pyrotechnic show featuring special rockets with decorative charges that will form intricate designs in the sky.

These celebrations across various cities not only commemorate the victory over fascism but also serve as a reminder of the resilience and unity of the Russian people. As they gather to remember the past, they also celebrate the present, ensuring that the sacrifices of those who fought for their country are never forgotten.
