Ciociaria Receives Crucial Funding For Public Safety Projects

Over Two Million Euros Allocated for Improving Urban Security and Revitalizing Communities

CIOCIARIA, ITALY – The Lazio Regional government has allocated over two million euros to bolster security and urban renewal across various municipalities, with 21 towns in Ciociaria set to benefit from the funding aimed at enhancing local safety measures. The funding initiative stems from the 'Sicurezza in Comune' program, establishing security as fundamental to urban livability.

Among the municipalities benefiting are Villa Latina, Sant'Elia Fiumerapido, Cervaro, and Cassino, with individual allocations ranging from 10,255 euros to 39,800 euros, targeted at upgrading surveillance systems and revitalizing areas with high criminal activity.

Luisa Regimenti, the Regional Assessor for Personnel, Urban Security, Local Police, Local Entities, and Universities, emphasized the significance of these funds which have arrived after more than four years of waiting. "For the Rocca administration, safety and legality are prerequisites for the livability of our cities. We will continue to work alongside mayors and law enforcement to assert the presence of institutions where criminal activity is prevalent," she stated.

The funding distribution also indicates the heightened demand for security measures, as demonstrated by the strong participation from local administrations across the province. Each municipality has identified specific projects aimed at enhancing public safety and urban environments, highlighting the urgent need for societal safety measures.

The funding's purpose includes installing or upgrading CCTV systems and rehabilitating neglected public spaces, which the regional government identified as areas with significant crime rates or those deemed necessary for social cohesion and community wellbeing. This initiative marks a considerable step toward ensuring public safety and crime prevention across the Lazio region.

Regimenti elaborated on additional financial support planned for the future, stating, "Through the new resources anticipated from the 2025 budget, we will support eligible municipalities not yet awarded funds to improve their security frameworks."

Throughout Lazio, there are 89 municipalities receiving these funds, with specific allocations outlined: Viterbo received over 384,000 euros for 19 municipalities, Rieti over 373,000 euros for 24 municipalities, and the metropolitan area of Rome benefiting from more than 493,000 euros across 16 towns.

Regimenti concluded, "Reducing urban degradation and improving the quality of public spaces means giving new life to our territories. We will persistently strive for this direction, standing by mayors and citizens to revitalize these communal areas." The commitment to urban safety and renewal reflects the local government's vision to counteract criminal activities by fostering safer and more cohesive environments.

Several municipalities, including Paliano, Arce, Veroli, and Sora, are pending new funding opportunities after presenting viable project proposals but falling short due to the exhaustion of allocated funds.

This funding initiative showcases the local government's proactive approach toward addressing public safety needs, allowing local entities to create safer neighborhoods through strategic urban renewal projects and improved surveillance methods.
