TMC is set to air the Christmas special of Les Mystères de l'Amour on December 22, 2024, featuring the much-anticipated remarriage of beloved characters Fanny and Christian. This festive episode promises to capture not only romantic reunions but also the enduring friendships among the cast.
Fans of Les Mystères de l'Amour can look forward to three special episodes airing back-to-back, marking Fanny's (played by Elsa Esnoult) and Christian's (Sébastien Roch) second wedding. "It’s true nothing is ever simple with them! (Laughs) Since Christian is older than Fanny, he worries she might look elsewhere... But love is always present, regardless of the ups and downs. They have gone through obstacles and breakups. It’s important to show, just like in life, everything isn't always rosy," shared Elsa Esnoult during her interview with Télé 7 Jours.
The shoot for the snowy wedding scene was described as magical. "It was exceptional, especially since we were incredibly lucky: it snowed on the day! I think the producer has high connections! (Laughs). I admit I was shivering in my very thin wedding dress! But there was something magical about it," revealed Esnoult. Having been part of the show for 13 years, she expressed her deep attachment to her character and the series.
Eager to convey meaningful messages through her character, Esnoult wishes Fanny could be depicted with more strength: "I want to give her more character to show she can also say no and make her own choices," she affirmed.
The Christmas special features not only the central couple's nuptials but also introduces new dynamics as they navigate their relationship during the holiday season. According to Hélène Rollès, another prominent figure of the series, the episode reflects their shared journeys. "This year, Les Mystères de l’Amour celebrates Christmas once again. It tells the story of Fanny and Christian's remarriage, and as every year, it’s also the birthday of our son with Nicolas. I remind you I gave birth on December 25 between the cow and the donkey! [She laughs.]"
Rollès is excited about the return of former cast members, stating, "It's always blissful! We don't lose sight of each other. It's like family reuniting yearly for the holidays. We've been growing up together since 1991, and we genuinely care for each other. That’s why we don't want to stop creating stories together."
Reflecting on her career, Rollès had to gear up to overcome significant performance anxiety as she prepares to return to the stage for two concerts at the Théâtre Marigny on March 7 and 8, 2025, after releasing her new album titled Hélène 2024. The singer expressed her long-standing commitment to her artistic roots, acknowledging her joy in being part of the series. "The formula remains the same, and I interpret songs with joy. I write some too, but I don’t have, like Jean-Luc, 3000 songs ready at hand. Nonetheless, the comfort and nostalgia we create resonate with our audience, weaving together past and present," she noted.
Rollès reminisced about her initial rise to fame saying, "We were often compared unfavorably by some journalists. We were causing quite the stir. Our songs barely made the radio. But this universe we embody is like security for many. People see us as part of their family, and that's comforting. It’s nice to have something people can depend on, especially since we lose our carefreeness as we age," she reflected.
Despite her choices to remain private about her personal life, Rollès concluded her interview lightly, "What I'll do after Les Mystères de l’Amour? I will rest! I won’t work like Jean-Luc until I'm 300!" [She laughs.]
With this Christmas special intertwining themes of love and camaraderie, fans eagerly await to witness how the storyline progresses for Fanny and Christian. The joyful magic of Christmas, combined with the show's strong sense of community, offers viewers hope and nostalgia, making Les Mystères de l'Amour a cherished holiday tradition.
