Hollywood stars Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have continued to share their parenting journeys as they navigate both their professional lives and the challenges that come with raising their son, Jack. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight on March 16, 2025, Pratt opened up about Jack's emotional reaction to his new film, The Electric State.
In this heartwarming segment, Pratt spoke about how Jack, his 12-year-old son whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, was "pretty pumped" about the upcoming movie. "Yeah, he's pretty pumped, but he's always really cool," the 45-year-old actor noted. Prior to the film's release on Netflix, father and son watched it together, and Pratt was taken aback by Jack's response.
"At the end, he goes, ‘Yeah, you made me cry,’" Pratt shared. "He goes, ‘I actually cried. I've never cried in the movie, I cried.’ So that was really sweet. He's the kind of kid where he's not going to tell me that he's excited, but I know he's excited, you know." Without revealing plot details, Pratt hinted that a particular moment at the end of the film deeply affected Jack.
The emotional connection Pratt feels towards Jack is rooted in their family's history. Pratt recounted a moment from when Jack was born prematurely, weighing just 3 pounds and 10 ounces. "I made a deal with God when Jack was born prematurely," he explained. "I prayed hard to God. I was in a season of transition spiritually at that time and didn’t quite fully understand. I made a deal with God again: ‘I’m sorry, God, here I am again, asking for your grace again.’" Pratt stated that after God “saved” his son, it solidified his faith.
While Pratt shares touching insights about his son, Faris has also expressed her pride and admiration for Jack. In a separate interview with E! News, she described the evolving relationship she has with her son. "Whenever my son—and he’s only done this a handful of times—but when he asks me for advice, or he reveals to me that he trusts me, I get sort of a flood of emotional gratitude and confirmation that I guess I'm doing something right," the 48-year-old actress said.
Faris's reflections come in the wake of a traumatic event—the destruction of their home during the recent Los Angeles wildfires. "He’s handled the situation with the fires well," Faris remarked. "I really appreciate that. He’s handled it with so much strength and practicality." She expressed her pride and confirmation of Jack's strength during challenging times, emphasizing that these qualities demonstrate he is becoming a grounded individual despite the pressures of Hollywood.
Both Pratt and Faris recognize that parenting does not come with a guidebook, leading them to question their own parenting methods. Faris stated, "As parents, we're always questioning, you know, ‘What are we doing? Are we giving good guidance? Are we raising kids with a good foundation?’” For her, Jack seeking her advice offers a reassuring confirmation that she’s on the right path.
Now married to cinematographer Michael Barrett since 2021, Faris highlights the differences between her upbringing and Jack’s life in Hollywood. She humorously recalled, "I didn't grow up in Hollywood; I grew up cleaning bathrooms," adding, "When I was a kid, I was assigned bathroom duty." The realities of her childhood stand in contrast to Jack's experience, but she maintains a sense of gratitude for their current life due to the strength Jack displays.
With Jack growing older, he has started to learn more about his mother’s film career. "He really likes The House Bunny and Just Friends," she revealed. "I also think he's pretty adjusted to seeing his mom be ridiculous." This sense of humor and light-heartedness reflects Faris's appreciation for her son’s adaptability amid their unique lifestyle.
While both Pratt and Faris have moved on with their lives—Pratt married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019 and now has three children with her—it's evident that their commitment to co-parenting Jack remains strong. Faris expressed gratitude for the stable upbringing Jack is receiving, stating, "I don't know how he got so down-to-earth, but I'm really grateful." Such sentiments reinforce the idea that both parents intend to raise a kind-hearted, resilient young man.
As they navigate through their careers in Hollywood and contend with life's unpredictability, both Chris Pratt and Anna Faris let their shared experiences fuel their commitment to successfully raise their son. Their journey resonates not only with their family but also offers glimpses into the heart of parenthood in the entertainment industry where the challenges are matched only by the rewards of seeing their child grow into a confident, thoughtful individual.
