China's Electric Vehicle Market Sparks With New Releases

Chery, IM, Toyota, and Geely set to roll out competitive electric vehicles featuring advanced technology.

China's electric vehicle (EV) industry is witnessing rapid growth, with several new models poised to enter the market. Two noteworthy releases include the Chery Fulwin T8 and the IM LS6, along with upcoming launches such as the Toyota bZ3X and Geely EX5.

On February 22, Chery officially launched the Fulwin T8, introducing six variants with prices ranging from 103,900 to 150,900 yuan. The vehicle targets the midsize SUV market and is available with plug-in hybrid technology. The design closely resembles Chery's popular Tiggo 8, yet differentiates itself with a more environmentally focused aesthetic, featuring a closed-off front and extensive decorative accents. Its specifications reveal dimensions of 4730×1860×1747 mm with a wheelbase of 2710 mm, alongside door handles with hidden designs and continuous tail lights. Inside, the Fulwin T8's minimalist style utilizes materials like suede and features a prominent 15.6-inch touchscreen integrating the Lion car system. With options for five- or seven-seat layouts, it caters to varying consumer needs. Under the hood, it boasts both 1.5L and 1.5T engine configurations delivering up to 156 horsepower and offers electric ranges of either 65 km or 130 km, pending battery options.

Meanwhile, the IM LS6 is set to debut on February 26, with significant enhancements anticipated over the current model. The price range for the LS6 is between 239,900 and 302,900 yuan, accompanied by various promotional incentives including cash-back offers and finance options. These marketing strategies indicate IM's efforts to secure consumer interest amid rising competition.

Further tapping the EV market, Toyota plans to launch the bZ3X on March 6. The new all-electric SUV will offer tiered pricing based on optional advanced driving assistance systems, aiming for price brackets of around 100,000 and 150,000 yuan. Its design adopts Toyota's signature language featuring smooth curves and thoughtful aesthetics. With dimensions measuring 4600 mm length, 1850/1875 mm width, and 1600/1645 mm height, and with a 2765 mm wheelbase, the bZ3X aims to blend variety and comfort. Inside, equipped with the latest technology, the bZ3X will include features like enhanced infotainment systems and comfortable seating arrangements.

Geely's EX5 is another electric vehicle garnering attention, having made its presence known recently at the 2025 Indonesia International Auto Show (IIMS). The model presents two configurations priced at 4.75 billion and 5.15 billion Indonesian rupiah, which converts to approximately 207,000 and 224,800 yuan. The EX5 stands out with its sharp design including the 'light wave' grille and dynamic headlights.

Geely positions the EX5 as part of its global intelligent energy platform, equipped with the Flyme Auto System, claiming competitive technological advantages. Geely plans to commence deliveries for the EX5 starting this March.

These new entries highlight China's burgeoning electric vehicle sector, underscoring both consumer demand and manufacturers' continual innovation. With the inclusion of diverse models and attractive pricing strategies, the competition among Chinese automakers is expected to accelerate. The road ahead looks brightly electric!
