The vehicle revalidation process for 2025 has commenced in Chihuahua, Mexico, offering discounts of up to 50% for vehicle owners during the initial months of the year. Announced by state Secretary of Finance José de Jesús Granillo Vázquez, these incentives aim to encourage timely compliance and aid families facing the economic strains of inflation.
Beginning February 1, car owners can benefit from tiered discounts based on the model year of their vehicles, which effectively lowers the revalidation fees. For models from 2016 to 2026, the discounted fee is set at 2,172 pesos, whereas older models, like those from 1995 and earlier, are only required to pay 1,408 pesos. The overall standard revalidation cost stands at 2,649 pesos for the remainder of the year for late payers, post-April.
Details on the pricing structure reveal the specific fees applicable during February, March, and April. For February, car owners will pay:
- Models 2016 to 2026: 2,172 pesos
- Models 2011 to 2015: 1,969 pesos
- Models 2006 to 2010: 1,816 pesos
- Models 2001 to 2005: 1,663 pesos
- Models 1996 to 2000: 1,561 pesos
- Models 1995 and older: 1,408 pesos
These fees will escalate monthly, making the early payment significantly more beneficial. For March and April, the fees will be slightly higher, aligned with the respective model years:

- Models 1996 to 2000: 1,765 pesos
- Models 1995 and older: 1,510 pesos
These preliminary discounts are part of the annual revenue law for the fiscal year 2025, underscoring the government’s desire to facilitate the revalidation process and promote compliance among vehicle owners. Granillo Vázquez mentioned during the announcement, "Around 50% of residents take advantage of these discounts,” which reflects the community's overall response to these financial incentives.
To accommodate the anticipated surge of applicants, especially during the initial days of the program, the Secretary encouraged the use of various alternative payment methods to avoid long wait times at tax collection offices. Payments can now be made through:
- Facebook Chatbot: Facebook.com/SHGobChih
- WhatsApp: (614) 372-17-00
- Online Payment Portal: ipagos.chihuahua.gob.mx
Local banks and authorized convenience stores are also accepting payments, and kiosks are stationed at multiple city locations for greater accessibility. This multipronged approach aims to ease the payment burden and streamline the vehicle revalidation process for approximately 1.2 million vehicle owners expected to engage with the service this year.
Granillo Vázquez provided insights from last year’s trends, noting significant spikes observed as the deadline loomed nearer. At times, as many as 89,000 transactions were recorded within one day as others rushed to secure the discounts.
Despite these incentives, many residents are still feeling the pinch of rising living costs and inflation. The Secretary’s office remains conscious of this economic climate and continues to support programs aimed at alleviating vehicle ownership costs.
All payments made within February through April qualify for the discounts, making it imperative for owners to act quickly. The increased fees post-April may deter compliance, highlighting the need for early engagement with these services. Vázquez’s office intends to roll out continuous support mechanisms throughout the year, addressing the needs of families and making the revalidation process as smooth as possible.
Vehicle owners are reminded to check their specific requirements and fees based on model year to optimize their savings during this revalidation season.
