Chhattisgarh Weather Alert: Rain And Temperature Drop Ahead

Orange alert issued as Chhattisgarh braces for rain and cooler temperatures

As April begins, Chhattisgarh is experiencing a significant shift in weather patterns, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue an orange alert for five districts: Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Surguja, and Bastar. On April 2, 2025, these areas are expected to face strong winds and rain, with temperatures potentially dropping by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. The Raipur weather department has predicted thunderstorms and light rain at isolated locations in Dhamtari, Gariaband, Kanker, Kondagaon, and Mahasamund over the next three hours.

According to weather scientists, a trough (a region of low pressure) is moving from southern Chhattisgarh through Vidarbha to central Maharashtra, alongside an active cyclonic circulation. This combination is likely to bring about noticeable changes in the weather, leading to rainfall in Raipur, Surguja, and Bastar divisions, which will further contribute to a drop in temperature.

In the past 24 hours, the weather across the state has remained dry, with Raj Nandgaon recording the highest temperature at 39.5 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Ambikapur in Surguja division noted the lowest temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. The forecast indicates that temperatures in these regions may continue to decrease in the coming days.

Looking ahead, the weather in Raipur on April 2 is anticipated to be clear, despite the chance of rain in nearby districts. The daytime temperature is expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures may drop to around 24 degrees Celsius. Light rain and thunderstorms are also predicted in the following days.

As the weather situation unfolds, the Meteorological Department has advised residents to remain vigilant. The forecast suggests that light rain could occur throughout the state in the next 48 hours, with cloud cover expected to help lower temperatures and mitigate the intense heat.

Meanwhile, across India, the month of April 2025 has begun with varying weather conditions. In northern and central regions, many areas are grappling with rising temperatures, while others, such as parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, have been warned of sudden weather changes. In major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore, temperatures are on the rise.

In Delhi and its surrounding areas, the day is set to start with strong sunshine, with maximum temperatures expected to reach between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius. The humidity level is around 44 percent, and strong winds blowing at 10 to 12 kilometers per hour will contribute to the heat. Residents are advised to take precautions, particularly in the afternoon when the sun is at its peak.

Uttar Pradesh is also feeling the heat, with maximum temperatures in cities like Lucknow expected to hit 35 degrees Celsius. However, the weather may change significantly on April 3, with light rain and thunderstorms predicted across the state.

In Mumbai, the temperature is expected to reach a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius, with a yellow alert for heavy rain in effect until early morning on April 2. In contrast, Chennai is forecasted to remain clear but humid, with temperatures around 36 degrees Celsius.

As for Bihar, the weather has turned extremely dry with increasing heat. The Meteorological Department has warned that the upcoming months may see more severe heat waves. On April 3, thunderstorms are expected in districts like Buxar, Kaimur, and Rohtas, with strong winds accompanying the storms.

In Jharkhand, a significant weather change is anticipated starting April 3, with the possibility of heavy rain and hail in several districts. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, predicting a temperature drop of 5 to 7 degrees due to this change.

Overall, the weather across India is presenting a mixed bag as the country transitions deeper into spring. With rising temperatures in some regions and the promise of rain and cooler weather in others, residents are advised to stay updated on local forecasts to navigate the changing conditions effectively.
